Default Different blades with Kasama

I wanted to try different blades with my Kasama instead of the Radix I had just to see.

We tried the one on hand and it turned out that with VTX blades the Kasama developped a frantic woobble that did not happen with the Radix nor the Align blade. Edge blades induced the same wobble but not as bad

All blades were taken off a perfectly smooth running helicopter.

Anybody noticed the same?

I've been using Edge 713s on mine for some time. I have tried Cyclone 695s, Zeal 700s and Spin 'Matt reds' (and prob some others I don't remember)

I didn't like the Zeals or the Spins, the Cyclones were OK but I wasn't blown away. The Edge's are still my favs on the Faifa.

The only time I had a wobble was when the blades were really tight in the grips and I was hovering at quite a low headspeed (and basically just giving it a little shake on the cyclics was enough to smooth it out).

I generally like Radix as well.

Just wondering if this is a sign of some trouble with my Kasama.

The VTX really induced some mean shaking of the helicopter and that was when I engaged higher reving. Pretty sure the blades were not too tight, it is something I check every flight. The Edge only did it after a while.

I like my radix too but they are getting harder to find in my neck of the wood.

I have found that you need to reduce your cyclic gains a little when running the VTX blades. Shaking can be induced by a lot of things but if there are no obvious failures or issues, reducing the cyclic gain is probably the fix.

Yeah that's what I was going to suggest as well. If those VTX blades were fine on another heli then it sounds like they balance OK and if other blades are fine on the Faifa then I don't think it has a problem, so the most likely cause is the FBL / swash gain.

That's interesting about the VTX blades though, I wonder what it is about them that's different.

The one thing I know about the VTX is that the CG is farther out to the outside of the blade than most.

If that has something to do with it, I would not know.

Thanks for the FBL advice I will try it.

I've always liked Rails 696 or DH691s. The Rails are slightly more stable and the DH691s are slightly more agile.

Ended up using the Cyclone 695.

The Radix I had were nice too but being 710 I found they were loading my motor too much. A Pyro 700-52

I found fairly loose blade grip to blade cured the hover wobble if you do experience that.

Thanks guys I will experiment but for now my Cyclone are working very well for me.
At this time my Kasama is the most harmonized helicopter in my fleet just like in a real plane were you can just give the same amount of deflection and force and get the same response in every axis.
A beautiful machine, too bad parts are going to be hell to get.

Is there some news I haven't heard? I was not aware of any problems with parts but I haven't needed any in a long time.

Just incase you missed it:

Hello! Just so that everyone knows, Kasama UK is under new ownership. Once the summer holidays are over and we've organised all the stock, we'll be back up and running properly. Thanks from Paul and Steve 😁
Raptorapture, trillian and Sage like this.
