That is the part number for the CNC delrin gear. You can see the difference between the plastic and delrin gears. The delrin has sharp edges and machining marks. The molded plastic gear has chamfered edges in the center holes

The tail on my Fusion and Velocity is mostly Outrage and custom.
Here is how I converted my Fusion https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=731738&page=5

I sold my highly upgraded fusion for $95 shipped. because of the bevel gear unavailability. I wish I would have seen that thread.... It all worked out OK, I bought a crashed Synergy E6 for $100.00 and got a lot of free belt drive tail parts from guys that had switched to torque tubes (a fad in my opinion) and put the electronics into that.Synergy's are really nice helis and they still make them...parts are not cheap but they are available..

The gears you have pictured must be fusion gears, the O550 gears I have are all different than that.

I still am sore at Heli-direct for the Outrage debockle. I used to buy a lot of HDX stuff from there as well and it all went away.

You were right. I just did some more digging and found a plastic 550 gear. The other is a 550 delrin gear. You can see that it is shorter than the fusion gears.

The gears I have are shaped different, they are about 3.9" in diameter

I am really confused now, are the Fusion gears smaller in diameter than the 550 gears?

here is the delrin gear that complete heil shows.(out of stock)

They look like the pic of the plastic gear that I posted in post #288. The 550 delrin gear looks different, but the same diameter as the plastic 550 gear.

The fusion gears are slightly larger than the 550 gears. In the pic is a 550 delrin gear and two fusion gears, a white fusion gear and a black fusion gear.

I guess the cutout was added later.Your plastic fusion gear does not seem to have it either.

Do you suggest that I try to change to the fusion gear 0.8 mod, or stay with the 0.7 mod 550 gears ?
Do you want to sell me one? I could live with a plastic gear and just fly softly.
Helidirect has 0.8mod 13 tooth 5mm ID pinions.

Wouldyou rather have a delrin 550 gear or a Fusion gear? If you try a fusion gear, you will have to refigure your gear ratio, as they are a larger diameter.

Just out of curosity, what headspeed are you trying to run? I have been using the same maingear for 8 years at 1700 RPM.

The Fusion .8 mod gear has 131 teeth and the .7 mod O550 gear has 140 teeth.

Presently my 1100kv motor on 6s 13T/140T calculates out to 2217 on MRMEL
If I switch over to the Fusion gear 13T/131T it will be 2406 on MRMEL

Since I have the governor set up on the ESC I can back it off a bit if need be.

Do you think that the 0.8mod gear is able to handle more torque?
The larger diameter pinion and Main gear should also add some strength.

I am using an 11 tooth Trex 600 pinion. It is so much quieter. The Outrage and Rhino pinons are so rough and noisey. I do not use a governor. The 550 is still very agile at lower headspeeds.

BFB: Are you using a delrin 550 gear? I have 10T and 12T t-rex pinions.

My fusion had a 1100kv motor on 6s with the smallest 6MM id 0.8M pinion I could get
I think it was 13T I was afraid the HS would be too high, but it seemed to fly ok.

I am using a plastic 550 gear. At 1700 rpm, everything about the helicopter was quiet... except the delrin main gear. it sounded like a turbine. My Fusion is also using a plastic molded 550 gear. It is running 6s with 550 blades... at 1500 rpm. The sound of the blades is music to my ears, like the Bell 47 on MASH.
Do you need me to send you a delrin 550 gear?

Back in the air thanks to BFB. I set the flight mode in the Hobbywing ESC to "Helicopter-governor off", and set the gear mesh a little on the tight side to avoid any problems with the new gear. Flew a pack out beside the house, all is well now. I even set "stunt2" up for low head speed.
