Yes i used a dremel cut wheel followed by sanding wheel. You could use just a sanding wheel if needed. Be careful!

I would just wait until you crash to swap it over if you really want to go TT. I put the TT on mine....its not a game changer. I like the smoothness and quietness characteristics of the belt, but I like the convenience of changing the TT in a crash rather than messing with the belt etc.

Nah. Unless you prefer torque tube.

Default TT

Ok just flew it.

It flys a bought the same. IMO th only good think is the reduction in messing with belt slipping. I only got 2 flights because of other issues. So I still need to tune on it more.

Question Manual 470 TT

Anyone know of a location / link for the TT manual. I have the old 470LM manual.

T-REX 470LT Super Combo (Torque Tube Version) manual
or
470LT Torque Drive Upgrade Set manual

I'll see if I can take some pictures of the manual for the TT conversion tomorrow.

I finally installed my conversion set. Went together beautifully.

I did have to use a .15mm shim on the rear drive gear to get zero slop, but no issues otherwise. Used dremel with sanding drum and then a hand file to modify the frames using the included guide.

Looking forward to testing it this week.

Great

What gear mesh did you use on the front umbrella gear to front drive gear?

I would think front and rear umbrella gears mesh should be set to the same (0.1mm) gap.

Set the Torque tube front drive gears and Torque rear drive gears to 0.1mm gear mesh same as Pinion / Drive gear mesh (obtained by paper spacer between gears)

Belts VS TT is an almoust religios discussion.
Align is simply smart: They sell to both factions.

I did not tune this, I simply bottomed the TT side gear fully. From prior experience with 450 Pro, I did not have issues with the front TT gears that required shimming or anything.

I use to like belts.but after going ttb I've never went back never had bad vibes.but have stripped gears but plowing into the ground sideways somethings gonna break booms ttb.I've even got my tail servo mounted on the boom.does fine.always kinda of wondered how locked in the one-way bearing was.sometimes I think it's slips in hard pitch movements.really like to use the 470 ttb an boom on the 450l
. will it WORK????

No

The 470 and 450 gears are similar and interchangeable but the 470LT boom is a larger diameter.

The 470LT is also wider than the 450L which makes the tail boom mount wider.

Has everyone's kit been a complete drop in beside cutting the frames? The hole on the bottom of my main shaft seems to be too small and won't allow the tail pulley bolt through it. I compared the bolt that was in there stock and the one that came with the TT kit, and the kit one is bigger. It seems like I have to bore out the hole on the main shaft or something.

The main shaft bolt was upgraded earlier this year to a 2.5mm. My kit from April had it included already.

You could simply drill out the hole a bit larger to accommodate the bolt. I think the new shoulder bolts are 3mm, so a 1/8" drill bit should work OK.

Alternatively, the new main shafts can be found here:

Oh ok, so the new 470 kits have the new main shaft then. That makes sense. I got my kit the month after it came out and I got the TT kit a few months ago and I didn't get a chance to install until now since I was in boot camp. So I'll see if I can drill out my shaft or get my hands on the upgraded shaft, thank you for the answers I needed.
