Hey guys, it's been a couple of years since I've flown, but I got out of the heli scene and began racing off-road RC buggies. I'm slowly working my way back into the heli game. I totally forgot all of my login info so I had to re-register. Look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome back. Maybe if you let us know what size helis you are interested in people can give you the 2 minute "what's hot" in that size class.

If you're looking to start out by flying in the yard the XK K110 is the class leader right now. Tough, great handling and cheap. A lot of people are using them in place of a simulator because they rarely break in a crash. It has 3 axis and 6 axis gyro modes, so it's suitable for everybody from beginner to 3D pilot. The stock RTF transmitter isn't too bad for a cheapie or you can use Futaba S-FHSS or a Deviation or Taranis transmitter with a 4-in-1 transceiver module installed.
