Default Belt residue

I seem to be getting a more than normal amount of belt residue on the inside of the boom and Canopy of my Fireball. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes.... do you have the Static bearing installed on your heli? Does your belt have any "groove" marks on it?

I did at first, haven’t seen much at all lately. Almost like the belt had to ‘wear in’.

I have the static bearing installed with no groove marks in

Doom Buggy, glad to hear that. Will give it a chance to wear in as only had 5 flights as yet.

Know this post is a bit old, but I installed 18T pulley and new belt and CF boom.

Belt very tight and got groove from anti static pulley.

Only run fireball on lazy susan for a few minutes. A bit worried.

Someone else was getting that groove. Never heard much more.

After hearing an abnormal mechanical sound while spooling down today, upon inspection I found lots of belt residue in my tail. The outside of the belt also appears very white/ash colored instead of black but no grooves. Anti static kit on place. I can’t tell what’s going on. Any thoughts?

Problem solved.

Where the tail boom fits into the body there is a tail servo. The belt must go past the servo on one side around the motor pulley and then back to the tail on the other side of servo. My belt was sitting on same side of servo both coming and going. Doesn’t look as though servo got hurt. Belt looks ok. Anti static bearing much looser now.

Stupid mistake.

Just went to fly Fireball.

Was nervous as hell. She popped nicely into the air. Dead stable. Slight, slight as in miniscule tail wag in hover. Not even going to change any settings.

Flies like a dream. Tail solid. Only did some basic circuits, a few piros and wing overs. No more wag in fast forward flight. Think new tail pulley made a big difference.

Haven’t tried rescue yet. Too scared it wonks out.

Its awesome now. Was on the point of selling her if she wasn’t right today.

Thanks for everyone’s help.
