Default TAil servo not returning to center?

Any ideas as to why a tail servo won’t always return to centre? Just running through a 450 3D I bought used. I saw in the blade videosomething to do about disabling the gyro gain while working on it. Maybe related to that?

Most gyros now work in heading hold mode, the tail servo is offset until the original position is reached. Rate mode, on the other hand, offsets the tail servo till movement is stopped, then returns to centre!

yes, as John says, this is 100% normal for a heading hold gyro.

Move the heli side to side by hand then you should see the tail servo move. It won't correct until it sees movement

Ok, I suspected it had something to do with the gyro but wasn't sure!

So the proper way to centre (90 deg.) the servo is to disable the gain on the TX, correct?

Ok thanks for clarifying that!

So the proper way to adjust the tail servo and linkage is by disabling the gyro at the TX ?
