Default Few questions.

I am thinking about switching over to Spirit after some Brain2 issues and lack of Telemetry on the BD3SX I currently have.

I have a few questions that hopefully someone can answer:
  1. Will GPS functionality be implemented on the Spirit units or only Spirit Pro?
  2. If GPS is available on the non pro units, will one be able to implement GPS and Telemetry on a non pro at the same time?
  3. Will the GPS have hard deck functionality?
  4. In regards this this statement on the Spirit Wiki "In case that the ESC telemetry is used, the primary satellite can't be connected.", does that in fact mean that if the SPM4649T RX is used and Hobbywing Telemetry is enabled, you cannot use a DSMX Sat as failover? Thus meaning SPM4649T only?
  5. I have found VStabi the easiest software to use, followed by MSH and then Bavarian, how easy is Spirit to setup?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Info on the GPS unit is still vague.

Spirit has their own support forum, where you'll get faster official response and more comprehensive info : Spirit System ? View forum - Support

They have a nicely-structured manual and details on the 4649T and telemetry : Spirit System Manual

The software has a demo mode. Download it and try it.

I find it as easy to setup as the Brain or Axon. Out of the three, it is the closest to optimal after initial setup and requires the least amount of tuning.

Thanks, I am digging through it quite a bit now.

I think I have found most everything except how to wire the SPM4649T + a Sat + Telemetry all at the same time. I wont necessarily worry about the extra Sat in the Mini Comet and just run the single SPM4649T, but it would be nice in the 380 (even though not all that important I guess).

Other question I haven't found an answer to on their site is if the RPM comes through the single programming signal wire on the Hobbywing v4s. On the Brain2 you have to connect the programming signal AND the governor lead to get telemetry and RPM.

I did play with the software and it looks pretty simple, thanks for the help!

The primary Sat port is used for the telemetry cable. The 2nd port can have a Sat connect to give the 4649T + Sat setup. (this is on the Spirit Pro with Sat ports on either side).

You still have the RPM out cable from the ESC going to the center pin of the gov port. So yes, you have both cables from the the HW.

Which model ESC ?

I'm looking at the Spirit, not pro so it wont have the second sat port. I can probably run both just on the SRXL RX.

The 380 has an 80a V4 and the Mini Comet has the 60a V4.

Thanks

I'm happy with just the 4649T on my G380.

Drilled two holes in the sides of the bottom plate. Put it in the belly, under the battery tray.

Hello!

Spirit can read head speed from RPM lead but also from the telemetry data.
So you do not have to connect RPM cable. If you are using governor from the Spirit, then this cable is needed.

Thanks, on the Brain2 you have to put in gear ration and motor pole divisor to get the right RPM, how is that handled on Spirit?

I wasn't going to use the governor though. Do I turn on governor long enough to enter that setting and then turn it back off?
