Smile Hello to all form sunny (not really) UK!

Hi guys and gals...thanks for the add here! I am a 46-year young IT Engineer that's just got back into RC nitro helis after a 12 year lay-off. My last birds were: Hirobo SST-Eagle 3 WC and I sold that off way back in 2005, along with a Robbe Futura SE 1.8m and a Robbe Millenium 90II....sighs, them were the days! Wish I had kept them now! Thankfully, I kept my beloved JR PCM 9X transmitter (I believe that the 9X in the USA is called XP9303?).

An old friend was in Singapore a few weeks ago, having a snoop around one of the model shops and came across a brand new Align T-Rex 600 Pro nitro that was on sale for just $200SGD (i think that's about $143USD at the time?), needless to say, he got on the blower to me and asked if I wanted it?...3 guesses why I am now on here.

The seller said nobody in Singapore flies nitro anymore so this was this last kit (it was sat on the shelf for 5 years, my mate was told)...the price sticker on the box read $750SGD...not only did we bag that heli bargain, the seller also threw in an Align pipe, carbon switch holder, front gyro mount/brace, carbon flybar paddles and ...get this: a set of Align carbon blades! Flippin' heck, I was trying to work out how on earth did the shop make anything on this!? Ah well, I have it now!

Now fully built with an OS 55HZ-H (i was not going to risk the documented failure rate on these so I got BOCA ceramic bearings straight off the bat for it!), the PCM 9X came back from the service centre with clean bill of health and new internal battery.

I'm running 3 x Speccy H6040's servo on cyclics, a JR SGP01 servo on tail, JR SGS01 gyro and an Alturn AAS-752MG on throttle. I have just ran 2 tankfuls of fuel thru the engine with the heli strapped to my workbench and running at just 1/6th-1/5th of throttle...sounds nice! Ah, to smell that old smell of nitro fuel burning again!

Now, I have never flown/owned a heli that uses eCCPM so I had to dig out the 9X manual. I have built the heli as per instructed and I THINK I have the controls sorted with regards to the eCCPM as they all go in the direction desired. We'll soon see, won't we!?

Right, I will report back here when I get a chance to fly the thing and get the engine tunes and sorted. Watch this space...!!!!!!!!!

Cheers all

Hi Yoshi, welcome to the forum and happy to see you're return to the hobby. I admire you're commitment to building a slightly older model and giving flight to a heli that may have otherwise remained sat on that shelf for another 5 years.

Hope all goes well with the maiden
