Default Head Speed Warning

How can I set up my jeti DS16 to alarm when my rota head drops below 1600rpm, I get the rpm through my brain2, I have a voice alarm set up now but want it to only activate when head speed goes above 1600 rpm, is there anyway of doing this with the logical switches

I'm a bit confused. Do you want the alarm for above or below 1600? If you have both, you're going to get tired of hearing alarms!

edit: Are you saying that after it first goes above 1600, you then want a warning if it drops below 1600?

That's exactly what I want.

I want an alarm to sound any time the head speed drops below 1600rpm.

But obviously I don't want the alarm to arm during spool up!

If you're getting the telem data in, can't you just set an alarm based on that value? You can set a switch when the alarm is active, I'd set the alarm to only be active when you have throttle hold off.

I saw your other post, of course you won't want it on spool up. Not sure how to fix that one.

I wonder if you can do a logical switch based upon the throttle hold and something like a flight timer. Then it wouldn't alarm until after your time reaches a set value.

If you spool up in normal, you could have your 3 position switch to activate your alarm as "switch not normal". This means in idle 1 and 2 you'd have your alarm active, and then set it to alarm for HS < 1600.

You could also just activate the alarm with a switch you're not using. Set it after you're spooled up. Or...you could possibly activate the alarm by setting a logic switch using RPM >1000 and a sequence to delay the alarm turn on by a few more seconds to get the rpm over 1600. The teacher-student latch Tero figured out for me on RC-Thoughts may be modified a bit to work as well. Lots of different ways.

Or a telemetry switch that activates over 1600rpm, and use that to enable the warning when the rpm drops.

myxiplx, won't the switch deactivate below 1600 and then the warning won't be active? That's what I thought would happen when I was making a thought problem out of this. Dan

If that's the case there's a way to use logical switches to do it. I don't remember the detail, but people have used it to create a logical throttle lock that only releases the throttle after the throttle stick is dropped to zero.

Once unlocked it stays unlocked, which sounds like just what we need here.

This is what you are talking about I believe:

I started looking at that yesterday, but got sidetracked by life. If you make a telemetry switch rpm >1600 to mimic the low stick, and say an rpm>1000 switch to mimic the throttle hold switch, it may be what you're looking for.

I got it to work with rpm telemetry and logic. Thanks to Tero for the REAL work--I just changed the inputs.

Telemetry Switch One (functions same as collective stick in Tero's use, turns on when RPM is greater than 1600:

Telemetry Switch Two: Replaces Tero's throttle cut switch. The value isn't critical, just enough that it will be on "in flight" and high enough to reset on autorotation or stop:

Assign an alarm RPM < 1600 using Logic 2 as the switch. Easy.

Tested it with motor running (blades off) and it worked.
