Default Which RX ?

For all you Futaba fliers out there, What receiver are you using on your Nitro or Electric Heli? I came across a 14SG Transmitter but don't have a receiver yet.

I've been using the 7008SB that came with my 18MZ and then grab more when I find them used for a good price.

R7003SB works great if you can use SBUS output.

+1 - my receiver of choice, just remember to get the gold dot version.

If you want to use telemetry, R7003, R7006, R7008
Small but full range R6303SB and FASST

All will work with SBus into most FBL systems
HilliHeli likes this.

Futaba FASST / FASSTest R6202SBW, R7008SB for me.

What's the significance of the gold dot?

The S.BUS port was found to have a floating signal line which relied on external pull up or down of the bus. If I recall correctly equated to 4.7K resistor. Argument was who's the bus master and therefore responsible for that including whether up or down. Generally it worked ok but sometimes maybe under high power conditions signal was misinterpreted.

Eventually, after some crashes and R2 proving the case Futaba succumbed and came out with the resistor built in or possibly activated and magically a gold dot appeared on the case between the antennas with no documentation nor acknowledgement

Vbar was affected, Neo wasn't out yet. HC also potentially impacted. Others don't know. The fix was slow in coming as it appeared to only have this problem for helis with FBL controllers and nobody else, ie. Planes.

This part is what still suprised me, as I haven't ever seen a 7003 in a plane. Unless you do a fullblown daisy chained sbus servo setup it just doesn't have enough outputs.

And even if you did run all daisychained sbus servos on a giant scale plane you would have power bus limitations. The giant scale guys all got excited about the aborted 718 receiver .....

The 7018 receiver has not been aborted - only the US distributor decided to drop it.
Both the 7014SB and 7018SB are available everywhere else in the world with no issues.

Agreed. Doesn't seem the right part for plane usage. I got all excited seeing the 7018SB receiver with the dual Lipo power source which I thought would be great for speed or scale helis.

What really irks me is vendors not addressing issues either with their product or product usage especially in a transparent manner.

A quick read on this reveals it suffers a similar fate of our FBL's where back current from high powered servos is not handled and causes a reset. A simple 4,700UF cap is said to solve this just like it did for the FBL's.

(Note for the electronically inclined: it is due to the coupling of the lipos being done via two diodes which will block the back current and send it elsewhere).

You really have to give it up for Mikado who have done a lot of testing and shared the solutions and results in this space.
