Default ds450 or ds480 for cyclics?

just ordered an oxy 2 210 FE edition
still thinking about the cyclic servo, ds450 or ds480. i know there are ppl running ds450 x 3 and ds480 for tail and also ppl ruuing 4 x ds480.
obviously ds480 is fater, but lynx recommend ds450 for cyclics, not really sure now.

what about durability? does ds450 crash better than ds480?

Not really sure, to be honest I'd guess they are both the same as far as durability goes.
I have DS480's all round and it seems to be the most common choice for MKS servos.

Are you going to be using a ‘standard size’ controller?

Hi

You actually won't go wrong either way. Performance was not that different between the two set ups. One of my Oxy2 had full 480 and a local buddy of mine has 450 for cyclics. Have flown them both extensively just to see if there is noticeable difference. Not much even if you're a smack flier. Durability wise the 480 was pretty durable specially if you do the servo saver arms.

The reason i went for full 480 is for simpler replacement gear logistics. Otherwise, i can also recommend 450 + 480.

Hi

I'm pretty sure none of the mainstream "standard size" controller will fit on this heli.

He may have been referring to a controller with standard size connectors. The mini size for brain/Ikon will fit and takes standard connectors.

Mahbouni is using a Vbar Neo VLink with DS480 on the cyclic (and H3060) on the tail

Yes, my question was more to determine if the intention of using servos with full size connectors was to plug these to a full size controller or use adapters to connect to a uController? Both a Neo and Vortex can be ‘physically’ installed (and Brain mini as jrman posted). Personally I think its best to shorten the cables, but as many know, this can take some practice as the lead is getting shorter and shorter. Alternatively, If using adapters and a micro controller, then there's a lot of wire to accomodate.

Having experimented with many options, My personal view is that a uSpirit or uBrain in conjuction with the Lynx cyclic servos (or similar) provides the best plug and play fit on this model.

Where there's a choice there's 10 different opinions 😊 so as far as an MKS option is concerned, Chris Reibert did an excellent thread using DS450/480 and NEO with lots of pics, that gives a good perspective on fit.
