Default Out with the new and in with the old.

With so many new 200-280mm sized helis it is no wonder that the X2 is pretty much forgotten. From reading old posts it seems like the X2 never reached any popularity due to its rather small belt and other tiny issues. I personally think the X2 is one of the best mid size micros available.

I have built and flown a variety of small helis including the blade 180, Trex 250, Oxy2, Oxy 3, Blade 300, Blade 230s, and a few others. Not a single one has grown on me as much as the X2. It builds light, has a ton of power, and reasonable parts cost. Over the last few months I have built an impressive parts collection that rivals most online retailers. The X2 never lets me down after a couple simple mods.

The best part about it not being popular is the cost of buying used. They can be had for pennies on the dollar in the classifieds section. I have bought a bunch of them and sold off some and now have zero investment in my setup. It makes pushing the envelope easier when each crash will cost zero dollars and just a little time.

Dont forget the old soldiers. While they may not be bright and shiny new with a large fanboi following they will provide hours of entertainment for very little investment.

Default Loved my X2, glad i got shed of it

The X2 was one of the sexiest heli's in my fleet. petite, sleek, looked great in the air .. shame I could never make it through ten flights without something mechanical failing on it. I lost count how many times the belt gave me trouble even after I modified the tailbox and added a bearing / belt guide ...

I fixed it one last time then got rid of it...

Default Good deals - and a good replacement for my 130x

I'm finally building up a couple of X2s that I bought 2nd hand ( one of which I bought from Nick).
I've decided to go with IKON 2 mini/hyperion sat and Talon 25A ESCs.
The one I'm working on now has the 'stock' Gaui GMi-202 motor and Gaui servos.
The other will have the GM-202 motor and MKS cyclic servos and a BK 095i tail servo. (Saving the best for last).

I'm having a hard time finding batteries that fit easily. If anyone could point me to an easily fitting battery and a couple of photos of X2s with batteries mounted, I would appreciate it. 850MaH-1000MaH 3s is fine. I'm not doing any 3d and getting a few more minutes of flight time is not worth the extra wrestling with the cockpit that the larger 1300MaH 3s require.

I will post a couple of pics this weekend as soon as I get a little farther along into wire management/connections.

Looking forward to getting some flight time with this.

I'm using glacier 1000's from buddyrc. My X2 never breaks unless I crash it, I love flying it.

Just bought a used one from here, downloaded the manual, and its not real clear, setting up the radio and FBL unit is a bit confusing, it basically referencing all adjustments in the radio? Can anyone offer advice?

I've been coasting on old setups for quite awhile but seems like you will need manuals for your radio transmitter and fbl controller to do setup. What are you using? Manuals are probably available online. If you are talking about basic physical setup of the heli, that is pretty similar amongst small flybarless helis. Can you be more specific?

Maiden it today, flew really good, but really twitchy, need to probably add some expo, or just get used to it, so far so good.

Where ?

In this class all I see is flying bricks and garbage™...although there are a lot of it.

Very late to the game - I bought the christmas special X2+motor/ESC/servos/blades

Looks like a very high quality kit, it's a shame it wasn't developed further to work out the last bugs.

I'm currently having a blast building it, very difficult with my pudgy fingers

Sorry to see that Gaui have found the brick road too,
motor/ESC/servos/canopy are way too heavy - I have to see what can be done about that.
