I have spent the majority of this "bad weather" day reading this complete post.

"Very Informative"

QUESTION: What is the main feature everyone loves the most with this unit?

Does it have a Return to Home feature?

I am thinking of installing one on my Walker 450. I see several have done so. Any comments on my thought? Pro's - Con's?

Dennis, the co-pilot is still a viable self level system, it does need to be used with an external receiver and having it installed with the hard deck add-on, it's where the co-pilot shines.

Cons: The static pressure tube hanging from the tailboon is cumbersome and ugly. I wish it could be replaced by other type of sensors. Separated vertical and horizontal optical sensors, the HD and the CPII modules should've been integrated into a single physical unit.

Pros: The hard deck and rescue functions simply works, always! Very easy to setup and use.

Keep in mind that despite of the fact that CP-II really does the job pretty well, there is also FBL controllers that have self level and bailout too now. Perhaps you may also want to consider these options.

I still enjoy flying my trusty 500 with CP-II on it. I always have lots of fun testing complicated maneouvers first above the hard deck, without being afraid or concerned of crashing.

Main feature is that it works for both helicopter and fixed wing.
It tune-able to your liking.
The hard deck functions quite well for its intended purpose, which is a training tool.
30' (9.1m) minimum hard deck height.
Can be used in series with a FBL controller providing you have a separate Rx.
The only Con, if you can call it that is that you will have more wiring and components to deal with.

I'm not sure I understood your question, but if you want to know if the co-pilot with the hard deck option enabled, would manage the cyclic in order to stabilize the helicopter and also the collective to keep the model at a predefined altitude, then the answer is yes.

During the Quick setup, I was wondering if both sticks needed to be centered. As I went back through it again, I see that it is only the cyclic stick that needs to centered for recovery to happen. Thank you for your reply.

It really depends whether or not your heli is FBL.

If it is, then increase the Expo Rate in the FBL program and remove Expo from Tx. By doing so the Tx and CPII out puts will be influenced by the Expo.

If it is a flybarred helicopter, then you can increase the expo rate in TX.

Fury Extreme. Got some drift issues(trim?)as well. Will increasing the auto trim help this or is it an angle issue? Drifts backwards, what angle would be adjusted if the angles are the issue?

This is an amazing help for me being very new to heli's and not quite understanding everything yet.

My Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx has a Gear (2-way) switch but in Heli mode, channel 5 seems to be reserved for the Gyro and the co-pilot does not pick it up when asked to setup a On/Off.
Is there a way I can "see" channel 5 (gear switch) by the co-pilot?

Instead of using channel 5, give it a try on channel 7 and play with the EPA parameters.

A few final questions please.
1. I want to set up the CP2 on off to my Tx Gear switch. So that I get it correct first time could somebody let me know the Tx settings. Also I want to continue use of the F mode switch to alter Pitch & Throttle but not Gyro.
2. Do I use the current gyro setting of 55 as a starting point in the CP2
3. I currently use the RCHelicopterfun Pitch & Throttle curves which are very mild. Is it ok to continue with these. Also the D/R & expo are mild
4. Is it possible that the mild pitch curves and the D/R & Expo settings are causing me trouble when I setup the Flight control sticks. I can only get about 70%.
I hope that is it for a while.

A few final questions please.

First you need to plug in the On / Off of the CPII into the gear channel.
In your Tx menu you'll need to locate the travel adjustment menu.
There you need to set Off position to 0, On position to 100



Also I want to continue use of the F mode switch to alter Pitch & Throttle but not Gyro.

Somewhere between 25%- 37% is a good range to work in, this can be adjusted in the preferences menu, scroll through till you get to gyro .

When setting up the CPII you should not have any D/R or expo set .
You can add it back after the setup is complete and test flown.

Thanks nightflyr. I was beginning to think this forum was a bit too obsolete.
I have not had any joy setting up the Tx Gear/Mix switch but I have the had luck with the Rudder D/R so Ok for the time being.
Once I get in the air I will sort the Gyro setting.
As you mention I will remove the D/R and Expo and do the Flight control stick setup again.
I am placing a lot of faith in this system because I hate the "sims" and I am progressing way too slowly.

Iím certain youíll enjoy flying your heli with Co-Pilot II.

Itís really important that you go through each of the setup steps carefully and make sure you understand what the equipment shall be doing in each situation.

Double check before the maiden flight to make sure your heli is correctly setup and enjoy it!

Good evening, I am really appreciative of the support from this forum. As an update this afternoon I now do have 99% travel in the flight control stick setup.
However the swash height seems to have altered considerably, it still appears to be level (and it certainly was before) but I now have approx 16 deg negative and about 7 deg positive. I think it has something to do with the very mild pitch curves.
It was so windy this afternoon and with minimal positive pitch I only got about a meter off the ground.
Thanks for the positive comments CZorzella. I do try to understand what is going on with the heli but these flow charts are mind boggling and just like the radios, 1 thing not correct can flow on with disastrous effects.
Like using the Gear/Mix switch on the Dx7s. Nowhere can I get it to display a setting to alter the end points, yet it must be somewhere.
I will keep playing tomorrow and the weekend.
