Hi,

My name is Eloy, and I've just started with RC helicopters. I got hooked randomly when I saw a Sima S5 quite cheap at a toy store, and decided to give it a try. I thought a twin rotor would be easy and it more or less is, and a lot of fun. How durable this litte thing is... . My 4yo and I sometimes fly it together, each handling one stick.

Soon after I got a WLToys V911. It is more fun, and in a way it's actually easier than the S5: throttle is much more responsive, so it's easier to keep level. On the other hand is faster so lots of crashes indoors (I broke already the part holding the tail motor, fixed it with glue...).

Anyway, really interesting hobby. Some of the things you see people do when RC helis in youtube are unbelievable (both in terms of skills and physics!), but even at the very beginner level it's pretty addictive.

Cheers,
Eloy

Welcome to Helifreak !

The V911 will teach you tons in basic orientation and will give you the confidence to move to a CP bird.

Keep on posting,

Hi and welcome!

Aside from a small heli, consider a computer simulator. Some more tips here, hope it helps.
