My personal opinion, 2300 to 2500 rpm.

I run...
1300 Norm
1900 ID 1
2050 ID 2

Main Blades are 640mm with 3 105mm on the tail on 12s

Most people on 550mm run around 2250 to 2500 RPM

These are based off of my setup. 1100KV motor and 6S battery with same pinion. On Castle Link program it shows 96% output at 2500 rpm, 92% output at 2400 rpm and 88.5% output at 2300 rpm. In set rpm mode click on the info button beside the head speed you entered and it will show you what the expected esc output will be at 3.7V for that head speed.

The Agile 5.5 likes a higher head speed than my other 550 because of the tail ratio.

I'm running the same set up here. 6s, 21t, 1100kv

Talon 120/fan, 560mm blades

14 deg. pitch
Idle 1- 2400
Idle2-2600
Idle3-2800

Ive been running this heli at 2600- 2800 set by castle gov (set rpm mode). I know the castle gov is in the red but it seems to work fine until the very end of the flight.

If you are only flying sport I would recommend 2000-2200 but if you fly 3d anything under 2500 makes this heli feel very heavy.

I get 3 min at 2800 with a 5000mah. Totally worth it though IMO.

It wa sjust suggested to me to set my high RPM at 2050 lol

Or at least start there. I am a sport pilot, so If you do the math, I am going to get long flight times at at 2050

Maybe a Norm - Mode of 2050 mode2 around 2250 and Mode3 around 2400 would be my starting spots with 550mm blades.
really 2500 RPM you should be able to do anything...... over that I think you'll just burn MAH for not much gain... But everyone has there feel there trying to get.

I use Norm-Mode for taking off and landing....
but I have 4 flight modes now with the Horus x12s

I really only use two modes mode2 and mode3
Mode1 is only for taking off and landing
mode2 is my BIG AIR mode
mode3 is my sport 3-D mode
mode4 is my Speed mode

I'm going to resurrect this thread because I can't find the answer..

How are you guys calculating the HS? Normal means do not work as it is a 2 stage drive so you cant just use main gear tooth count and pinion tooth count.

Im at a loss.

**EDIT**

Disregard.. Use gear ratio, times pinion tooth count = number of teeth to put in for Main gear. Then the math is the same.

20t pinion
(54/20)*(56/17)=8.89

21t pinion
(54/21)*(56/17)=8.47

22t pinion
(54/22)*(56/17)=8.09

Default Way high HS?

Stock motor (1100kv) and pinion (21t), 553mm blades, HW 120a v4 esc. I spun it up at 50% to do the gov store and tached it while I did it.. At 50% throttle, my HS showed 3149rpm?

Also shows about the same with a HS calculator.. but that should be at 100% throttle. I want to be about 2200 normal, 2400-2500 IU1 and 2700 on IU2. Not sure what's up. By this, I do my gov store at normal 50%, then set a throttle curve for 20-25% to achieve 2200 in normal?? Doesn't seem right to me.

I have to be doing something wrong here, anyone with some input?

*EDIT*

Disregard, It was me brainfarting as usual. Forgot a setting in the app I was using and now showing 2281-2265-2273 after three more 50% runups. Thats more like it.
