Default Ordered new 230S V2 - recommended prep/ setup for beginners?

Hi,

Had been flying an HK K110 and saw the new 230S and couldn’t resist, especially with AMain’s current $30 off coupon. So I pre-ordered one. Any suggestions on which stickies or threads to read first to learn the key points about the 230S? Also, will be using a DX18 G2, so any curves and settings recommendations for general flying would be appreciated. For batteries was thinking about the Glacier 75C 850. Any other hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also looking for an active RC Heli Club in Northern Virginia.

Thanks!

I’m using SilverAmp 900mah batteries, which I recommend if you can find them in the US. The cg with these is spot on.

If you won’t be flying in stability mode, consider using the same throttle curve in FM1. I use this for take offs to avoid tipping over and switch to FM2 once airborne for inverted and 3D flight. If you want to fly in stability mode, I would still use FM1 for take off and switch back.

I also like the orange blades and the colorful fiberglass canopies for visibility.

Unless they've fixed it if you take off in stability mode be ready to fly the swash/blades until off the ground. It has a tendency to want to tip especially forward and right in that mode until the skids leave the ground.

Im so curious about the new flight controller upgrades. Id say take it out of the box and fly. The v1 was awesome out of the box, can't imagine this one isn't ten times better. i will be ordering one as mine are thousands of flights old but still going strong.

Ashburn, VA. I’ve heard there is a club called Virginia Flyers, but haven’t been able to connect with them.

You're a little north of me. Send a PM to DCflyer on here and he should be able to fill you in. He seems to be well versed in local clubs in this area.

yup, this is important.
Also, you'll want to do a trim flight (drift calibration) asap to ensure the stability mode knows the settings for quality stable hover. Most v1's were fine right out of the box,, but some weren't.
