Sometimes, when new, the main gear has a really tight fit and requires quite a bit of force to install. To easily push it on tightly up against the lower main bearing, simply place a 1/4" nut on it. Makes it easy to push it on with perfect radial distribution of force and no distortion to the gear.

I discovered quite by accident that the hk250gt-681x fits the blade grip perfectly. This means that any 681x bearing should fit. As a side bonus, they also fit the hcp80v2.

Default Got wag? Check for a bent tail blade.

I discovered a very simple fix to what is probably a common cause of tail wag.

Tail rotor asymmetry. One blade of the tail rotor is bent slightly forward or backwards.

To fix it, simply bend the bent blade back so that it matches the other blade. Both blades should be perpendicular to the tail axle shaft.

My K110 had a wicked tail wag and close inspection showed one of the blades was slightly bent. When I straightened it, the wag disappeared. Checking the tail blades for symmetry is now a part of my pre-flight check.

Gaoneng 450 mAh batteries are light have very high 80C rate. The heli has notably better handling due to the lighter better compared with my 600 mAh Turnigy graphines. Unfortunately the plug has to be replaced. They also sell a 600 mAh version. So far I'm pleased with them.

Default Grommet replacement

Need replacement canopy grommets? Cut a small square of rubber band, glue it over the hole on the inside of the canopy. Poke a small hole in it and voila.

Which blades would be better for the v977, the KBDD mcpx or the v931’s?
Also would it be worth upgradig to a carbon fibre main shaft?

About blades, it depends on your flying style, V931 are longer and thinner, making your heli to flip in a coin, KBDD has longer chord making it more stable and not as fast in cyclic as the others.

V931 blades, my personal experience with this blades, buy 10 pairs, maybe 2 or 3 pairs may be good, the rest are out of track or don’t balance as well as the others, my opinion, stick with stock blades, unless you are in 6g mode, use KBDD, this are heavier.

Carbon fiber shaft, I don’t use it, BUT, I read that it’s not as good as stock shaft.

Post your same questions on rcgroups, there are more eyes than here.
They may have different opinions

I've never had good experience with carbon main shafts either! Same for bigger helis:
-Cracks easily, not always easy to see. Makes it flex.
-The swash plate will often not glide well on the shaft = bind.
And you can't really feel any improvement (less weight).

Since there's a new kid in town (K130) I did a small comparison:

K100 (not brushless):
Rotor diameter: 245mm
Battery:3.7V 250mAh
Flying weight:45.5g

K110:
Rotor Diameter: 245mm
Battery: 3.7V 450mAh 25C
Flying weight: 58.5g

K120:
Rotor Diameter: 275mm
Battery: 7.4V 300mAh 25C
Flying weight: 78g
33% heavier than a K110

K130:
Blade Diameter: 305mm
Battery: 7.4V 600mAh (2x capacity of K120)
Flying Weight: 124g
111% heavier than K110


The beauty of the K110 is the VERY good gyro and it's crash resilience. With over 2x the weight the K130 be useless in a crash. I flew Nanos and mCPX'es in the past. The gyros were good (minus no piro comp). But they needed power so you spent a small fortune on brushless and other fancy upgrades... the mCPX was ballistic but never survived a crash. The Nano crashed OK but all in all the K110 is a much better option. And a hella lot cheaper

Anything else out there I've missed?

Looks like the Hisky HCP80 main gear is getting harder to find.

Does this fit the XK K110 and is it better than the stock one?
