They’re on clearance already, seems like they just sparked a deal with Spartan yesterday now they’re selling them off.

Default Is the VX2 still stated for a release in 2018

No!

I can now state with some authority, being as it is 2019 here in the UK where it is made, that it will not be released in 2018.

EDIT: Happy New Year all you Spartans out there.

Spartan RC have a 'contact us' messaging facility on the web site:

Spartan RC

So i created a new ticket simply asking this question:
Ticket was raised on the 13th and other than the automated response I got within seconds i have received no 'human' reply to my ticket. If i was going to get a reply I'd have had one by now.

This either means Angelos is no longer even monitoring his Spartan web site messages or that he has nothing to say about the VX2. Either way i think anyone who still has hope of a VX2 in the foreseeable future should stop deluding themselves and just move on.

As G_O_M states living in hope but think it would be decent of Angelos to be upfront and state outright considering the respect he has on this forum IMHO

Companies House in UK still states that he is Active, the online shop is registered under a different trade name, anyone interested can see basic info here
About us on shop provides this info

I popped back on today to see if there was a positive update but think its time to consider another good product has met EOL....

Default Last word from Angelos??

For some reason I was on the Spartan FB Page. I saw a comment by Angelos about the VX2 that I've never seen before (excuse me if someone has mentioned it). It's fairly old, August 2018, but it's an interesting exchange nonetheless.

Essentially, Angelos says he's almost done with having a public presence and that his position on the VX2 was "clear"?? I have no idea what that means, because obviously if it was, there wouldn't be as much speculation about it.

In any event, I'm haven't changed my position. I still think it's dead in the water.

It really sucks that number one, the company appears to be 'dead' and number two that we haven't heard anything official. I keep flying the Spartan products exclusively anyhow!

I’ve noticed stock on the Spartan web side gradually depleting and no sign of any re-stocking. As of today the only Spartan FBL that you can buy is the Nano.

The pessimist will conclude from this lack of stock that Spartan is dead in the water.

The optimist might conclude that they are clearing old stock to make way for the VX2

I have since moved on to vcontrol, but would love to see something happen in 2019. I still have a pile of vx1e's.. literally.. just in case there is an update.

Angelos priority would be his full time job

Angelos Gonias
Chief Embedded Systems Engineer
Didcot, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
Aviation & Aerospace

Embedded systems engineer specialising in control systems with particular interest in flight stabilisation and autonomous operation of unmanned aircraft.

I don't know how much time he would have spare to work on vx2 with a full time job and raising a family.

Even if the vx2 is released there is no way he would have time to constantly refine it with firmware upgrades like he did with the vx1

He stopped working as a Principal Engineer at Spartan in March 2016.

Managing Director , Principal Engineer
Spartan RC Avionics
January 2008 – March 2016 8 years 3 months
Steventon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

If that is from his career summary on his CV then it doesnt mean he left Spartan in 2016. It just means he started a new job and wanted the jobs to appear to run concurrently for the sake of 'neatness' on his CV. The reality is that he was still director at Spartan to sometime in 2018, when he transferred it into his wife's name.

But FWIW I agree with you on the main point of your post. With a full time job and a family he's not going to have time to develop and support a new FBL system and run the Spartan business.
