Anyone try 477 yet on a true 500 class heli?
ie: Goblin500, Synergy 516 or my plan XL Power 520?

I'm on the fence. So far I've run RT510, SAB500 and Zeal520 on this machine, RotorTech being the favorite.
I also generally fly this machine at 2100 so have a little wiggle room staying in the tuning window for 477 (2090) if I need rpm to make up disk.

My machine all up weighs 2.7kg on 4400's. About 200g less on 3800's

Worth a try?

Bill said the 477 have enough area to handle 2.6kg.

That being said means that it should be ok given that they generate more lift than the traditional 480mm blade.

In the end its up to you to find out

Yeahhh I'm gonna give it a go.

Still a long ways off flying here, probably change my mind 10x.

Be nice if there were some 507/517 in the works,

hint-hint-nudge-nudge.

I remember there were discussions about 607mm some time ago...

Any news about that?

Yes. A few weeks ago we submitted the 607 for Funkey to tool up. Right in time for CNY.

And to answer the next question: No, I really don't know how long it will be until we get prototypes to fly since it depends on work load and financial thrust to get anything to fly. Hopefully we'll have more news in a couple months, or less.

Given that Fun-Key have just gotten back from CNY holiday a few days ago and are now working on the prototypes, I doubt it.

Why not wait for an official post?

That could be a while. I'd suggest not waiting as VTX is going for different and if they don't achieve that for tail you may never see one.

+1

I wouldn't worry about having different main and tail blades. I'm sure a good number of pilots don't have matching brands either.

Also, once the blades are spinning, you can't tell what names are on them anyway.

++1... just using RT FunKey on the tail... perfekt harmony with VTX mains.

As a generality I also try and match the tail blades to the mains. I freely admit that tail blades really don't make much difference. I will confess that I'm of the opinion that a well balanced pair of tongue depressors would likely function well for tail blades.

Still, I try and match mains and tail blades - if possible. It gives the model a more "finished" look. I have a white Honda Accord. Would it be any less a car if one of the doors was green? Certainly not and if one of them was green, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to work - but if I could find a white one, I'd put it on.

I'd it sound like VTX realizes that the effort to make tail blades may not justify the investment. They may have noticed there are a LOT of good tail blades already on the market and come to the conclusion they can't offer anything functionally unique. Further, VTX mains are liked by a lot of people and waiting for matching tail blades may time wasted.

I once put one tail blade on backwards. I did notice a difference of course, but it was still flyable (no hard 3d at that time)

Shouldn't have happened though

I've tried many and I'll say that there definitely is a difference between tail blades but it might be like tasting cheese or coffee where in some cases the differences can be subtle.

I'll keep my thoughts on the various brands to myself to avoid controversy and drama.
