Have I missed something, do blade do a 255 or do you mean 250? I keep getting tempted to go bigger but its all expense. I've got two 230's, one std and one with upgrades. Both are fine for me. I think you could just velco the skis on but a tie would be good just in case they want to fall off on flight. Year ago when I crashed more I used to tie a bit of thread between the dog bone links on my 130 as it saved losing them in a crash.

It's just a stretched V1 with a 450 canopy. Pretty simple to do.

With just the Velcro the skids tend to be a bit too wobbly. I want them to break away in a crash like before but not fall off or add to the takeoff tipping tendency.

Its odd but of my two 230's one is very stable on spool up and the other is all over the place. I don't know why. I've even swapped the rotor blades and its made no difference. Its like the stability system is putting in needless commands which is causing instability. It has to be "flown" from about 1/4 throttle stick to prevent tipping.

Could be a bent main shaft then? How does it fly once in the air?

Or maybe you are somehow taking off in Rescue mode.. did you set up mixing differently in one model? Or maybe the swash is not level at mid stick?

Could be a lot of things.

Both models fly off the same DXe Tx on exactly the same factory settings. I've never played with the settings as the helis fly fine when in the air. With one its just a short phase in spool up. I am guessing there are subtle differences in the Rx that could probably be programmed out. The swash is not level when on the ground in stability mode on these helis, I read about that on here before and I don't really know why this is the case however, I set both up in servo centre mode. Its not a problem as I can catch the model before the rotors hit the ground but for a novice it would be a problem.

I've found a way to do true auto rotation with the 230. I was flying my stock heli today. First time in months and it was going fine. All of a sudden I heard a sort of "zip" sound and lost rotor power and I could here the motor winding up. The heli was descending nicely so I waited until about 2 foot of the ground hit TH and full pitch and even landed upright. The motor mount had come lose and moved out of mesh but it did trash the main gear.

I got the new FG canopy for my 255S today. It's really visible and quiet. I like it a lot.

Looks great! It’s huge!

The dog head is a weird touch to the canopy though. To each his own. Did it come with that sticking out the back, or did you pay extra?
Scorny and Hemidoo like this.

Did some more practice past few days. I can now fly my model forward and backwards. I'd describe myself now as a competent upright flyer after five years

Upright backwards is tricky, it just seems counter intuitive. If you can fly a figure of eight both ways upright that is some very competent flying. I've been working on this for some months and can just about do it in calm weather but I would like the eights to be more uniform and even.

This weekend was all about crashing.

My 230 S V2 frame was already cracked from a previous crash. Today a moderate crash caused big damage.

New frame time.

I'm always returning home with a big smile on my face after flying my model at dusk with night light kit. It was such a good purchase
Thank you Team Blade!

I just repaired mine (broke at the skid mounts) and was considering putting an Oxy2 lower plate and landing gear on. I think I'll reconsider, after seeing this.

I have the white 200S/SRX landing skids on mine. I like it much better than the black stock. (see pic above right)

I haven’t flown much in a year due to other interest. Then sudden urge to fly again, I decided to dust off V2, and went to field. Started with basic flights then flips and rolls… I haven’t lost a touch…haha…

Just reminded myself how easy it is to fly this heli……… I wish HH makes fusion version of 230s or smaller….

Making it a small heli day. Finally it's not raining. From left to right : 200S, 255S (Stretched 230S V1), 450X (Converted 450 3D), Oxy 3's

Very simple. Put on a longer tail boom from a 250 or make one (aluminum knitting needles work good) then just install 250mm or 255mm main blades. DONE

I use a 450 canopy for better visibility (old eyes) which fits fine. If all you want to do is fly around upright you can put up to a 2300mAh lipo under that and go 20 minutes.

How does the 230S react to larger blades like 250mm or 255mm? Is it more floaty and stable or...?

More float but actually seems better to me in the wind with the CF 255mm blades over the plastic ones. In turns I have to do less altitude correction. I have a ton of flights on it and it hasn't been a problem for the motor or head parts. I do have KST 215 servos on it though.
