Default Motor not spinning - ESC beeps 3 times

Hello,

the motor of my 180CFX is not spinning. I exchanged the ESC and the motor.

When I plug in the LiPo battery, the ESC beeps 3 times.

What might be the error?

Thank you so much for helping!

What transmitter are you using? Maybee try to start from scratch and rebind heli to your radio! Or flip your throttle hold switch then flip it back off and see if your esc arms! Does your swash plate jump indicating everything initialized? Are your throttle curves setup correctly?

According to the Talon User Guide, three beeps means:

"Motor Anomaly/ESC detected a sudden mechanical interruption of the motorís rotation."

Thanks, I searched for the info a long time without success.
I had the problems, that
a) motor did not spin and
b) ESC beeps 3 times

Then I exchanged the ESC and the motor, so new ESC and new motor.
ESC still beeps 3 times and motor does not spin.

Any idea, how I can solve this issue? Thank you?

Do you have the throttle trim all the way down? Sounds like the ESC is recognizing the 3 cells and then not arming. Usually lowering the throttle trim to bottom cures this. If that does not work, ...

You might try starting with a fresh model in the transmitter or download the model from SpektrumRC,com.

If you just updated the transmitter's Airware, you could have an issue introduced by that new software. I recently did the updates on my DX9 and 18 and so far I have found a model that no longer worked the same. I had to go in and change a setting to get the DX18 or 9 (can't remember which) to stop vibrating when 50% throttle was passed thru. Who know what else could have changed. I now have to go thru all 30+ models to verify that they work correctly. (Several are Jets and Giants) What a PITA!

Sound like an ESC throttle calibration is in order.

I don't think the OP indicated whether or not the bind process actually finishes ... does the light on the receiver ever turn to the solid color? If so, are you able to move the servos at all? Have you tried setting up a brand new model in your Tx?

I hate to bring back an old thread, but the OP has same issue as me and wondered if there was ever a resolution.

I was flying this morning and 3 min into first battery, heli motor shuts off and it falls to ground. No damage thankfully. The FBL system was beeping in sets of three.

I installed next fully charged battery and after FBL init, I turned off TH, motor starts to spin up, but before even lifting off, it shuts down again with same three beep sequence.

There is power to all servos, FBL is solid amber.

I plan to tear down and check ESC, but looking to see if there is some other explanation.

thanks HF'ers

Sounds like broken/cracked solder joints on the motor to ESC bullet connectors.

Took me way too long to resolder those wire to ESC. Then, I was strugging to figure out how it was all going to fit back together because wires are a bit shorter now, a bullet connector came off the motor. Those motor wires are way too brittle!

Agree - those motor wires are the source of many problems due to the factory builders bending the crap out of the wires way too close to the bullets. You can lessen the risk by making sure you don't bend the wires until they're clear of the heat shrink tubing. Otherwise you only get a few bend cycles before they break As the heli comes stock they're bent (sharply) right at the bullet, inside the heat shrink - a big No No!

Sorry, but I work for an electronics manufacturer and that’s shitty workmanship and poor (if any) QA. I know, I know, these are cheap toys, bla ... bla ... bla ... We would issue a SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Requirement) to a vendor who shipped anything like this to us while pending payments are put on hold. They would then have to demonstrate (to our satisfaction) that the problem has been resolved in order for the SCAR to be removed. No additional orders can be placed with a vendor currently holding SCAR'd status.

All three of those are bent at the weakest point - right where the stripped wire is soldered to the bullet. The heat shrink does nothing to protect that fragile joint FAIL ! This is not rocket science.
