Default VLink vs. Non-VLink Neo

Can a VLink Neo be run on Spektrum Sats running 5.3???

I have been told both answers YES and NO.

So my question is there anyone running a VLink Neo on 5.3 with Spektrum sats???

My understanding is that VLink Neo's come on 6.0 and would have to be reduced to 5.3 through the VControl manager? Is that correct and if so how???

The firmware versions you are quoting is for legecy VBar units and not Neo. Any Neo can be used by any TX system, VLink or non Vlink are not a problem for other TX systems.

“Any Neo can be used by any TX system.”

Your statement may need a little bit of qualification. Receiver is also required for non Mikado TX systems. That might be confusing to some that are unfamiliar... fwiw

Default VLink vs. Non-VLink Neo

Neos will always be on V6, they donít support older firmware.

Every Vlink Neo can be flown with Spektrum sats. Iíve done it. There is no firmware downgrade or anything like that, just plug them in and select them as receiver type in the software. If you have a Vcontrol, you can even select the Spektrum sat on that, and the Neo will work with whatever radio is on when it is powered on, or with both for wireless buddy boxing if you first power it up with Vcontrol and them Spek.

This is interesting!!

I recall talk of Vcontrol and specktrum buddy boxing but never looked into it. Canít be that simple....kinda scary.

Your saying that just plugging in a DMSX satellite to a Neo Vlink is all that is needed? Now that Neo is now bound to two different Tx at the same time?

Pretty much. You have to tell the Neo to use the satellite when you first plug it in and program the Spek radio, but yeah, itís that simple.

I do this with Futaba and vcontrol on my synergy e7. Buddy box works great. You can also fly with with whichever radio you want by leaving the other radio off when you boot neo. The only thing with using Spektrum is you lose the telemetry ports for vcontrol.

That is just to cool.
Iím planning to try/bench test the VC & DMSX this weekend because temps are supposed to be 100 so I hanging indoors then.
Was going to remove the Neo from one of my helis but now I can have it both ways and possibly more!
