Yup. My buddy had one of the early 600se and I remember he managed to talk to someone at Mikado Germany about the recommended setup. We flew the wheels off that thing back when. IIRC we were flying it with something like 14 degrees of collective at 1800 rpm and we were still getting something like 8 or 9 minute flights.

I am a bit gun shy on the pitch topic. I think I set about 12.6 degrees in my 600SX. I don't know if the OWB will take 693's much more than 12 degrees with my collective mis-management. I enjoy the lower rotor speeds though, so the torque load should be less with lower speeds. Much lower, though, i'd think will require a lighter pack...such as a 7S or 6S setup to get away with lower speeds.

I'll just say that there are "good" OWBs for the Logos and "bad" OWBs. Several years ago, I noticed a rash of people complaining about OWBs letting go and I honestly think Mikado shipped a batch of "bad" ones and hoped no one would notice.
If it slips with a reasonable amount of power applied, press it out and throw it away. I'd also inspect the main shaft and possibly replace it. Otherwise, I wouldn't fear it. If it holds at 2000w, it's probably going to hold at 3500w.

Just poked into that rcgroups thread, was definitely a good read. Thanks for sharing that, prototype. Not many willing to extensively test like he did. I'll see a video pop up from a quad guy every once in a while where they do a comparison, but it's usually only a single data point so not as useful.
That said, a couple years ago the dinogy batteries were a very common reccomendation in the quad arena so at least that speaks something. Especially since freestyle/racer quads are much harder on batteries. Also interesting is that quad guys have never thought very highly of pulse, which seems to be hailed as the best around here. |

Ligher weight, and compact size was a selling point for me for TP a few years ago. Guess it's just no longer the case.
I'll definately be looking for Dinogy after that read.

That 3700 pack has been on back order since we started chatting about it...

Thanks for the tip, Tony. I see those are still 70g > than the Dinogy 3700 pack. So 140g/pair. But, they ARE available.... I am going to maiden with my Thunder Power 12S3300 DIY stick that I bought for my 600SX.
Just noticed these are under 500g...LINK

12s feels way better to me. even with 5000's at 10lbs overall or 3850's at 9lbs it doesn't feel that much heavier than it did with the 10s, it feels like a better overall weight. And that's coming from someone who likes super light.

I've been working on a new brushless motor performance model which may be more accurate than my previous one and allow for some interesting prediction capabilities.
As a result, I'm also on the hunt for people with Kontronik motors who have access to nice lab equipment to get some measurements for me.

Interesting observations about power/weight. My Compass 7HV was a similar experience...I had originally setup with Gens Ace 12S5300 and Scorpion 4035-560. I then began to wonder how it would fly with Spyder 12S4000 and a Pyro 700-52. So, I gave it a go. I couldn't discern any of the difference in weight (was about 12 oz overall) with the lighter setup. Ran way cooler was about the only observation I could take away. I attributed that to the Pyro vs Scorpion motor. I saw no other performance benefits. By far, the most discerable performance difference was when I eventually installed an Xera 4530-500. Torque response to pitch change was dramatically increased, and I had a lot of tail tuning to handle all that extra torque. But, it was amazing.

Great motor, but the kv is a little high for a 700. Will It work, yea.. tough to gear the heli right unless you got a bunch of pinions.
That’s why it’s a great 600 size motor, your gonna run a higher head speed than a 700. Just plug the numbers into mr Mel’s.. it’s pretty obvious.

Ah, these 'newbs' lol.
That was the hot 700 motor back in our day Tony. Now is a 600 motor.

Yea, and 2200rpm’s on a 700 was non existent. Now it’s the norm, not for me, 1800 is fine. But you get the picture.
