Default Nitro Phazor 600

I am in the process of building my own version of a nitro Phazor 600.
I am working from a Phazor 600 kit and doing my own conversion.
David is still working on the real nitro version so you will have to wait for that to come out. The version that I am building will be very customized for my own specific uses. I am hoping to have this done to be flying at IRCHA.

It is still to soon to be taking pics since I am just starting to make parts and have not started assembling anything yet, or have any parts done yet for that matter.

I do not think that what I am doing for my own needs will be commercially viable for Gohbee to sell, but I am still having fun doing it.

Wow, that looks pretty cool! Does the glow engine weigh much more than an electric motor? Will you have and CG problems?

Thanks,
Jason

The engine, muffler and empty fuel tank do weigh less than a motor ESC and 8S battery, but then I will get some of that back by using a 5200mAh Relion battery in the nose.
I do not have all of the stuff mounted yet, but you are correct that the CG is looking scary. Most of the exhaust system will be inside the canopy so that will help with the CG. I also plan to stack as much electronics as far forward as I can. I do have a carbon boom to help lighten the tail if needed. There are a few other tricks I can use to get the CG right.

It is coming along well.
I think that I just have two more custom parts to make, then it is just the rest of a normal heli setup.
The Gov will be a PITA since there is no place to put the magnets.
It will be done for and flying at IRCHA.

If this works out, then the next project may be to come up with a design to put in a Hyper 50. The Hyper will actually be harder than this was.

I'm not a nitro guy, but would this help?

Nope, That still uses a hall effect sensor so it still needs magnets somewhere.
Besides, it is a Spectrum, I wont give up my 14MZ for nuttin.

I just need to find a spot and mill some magnet holes and my trusty TJ Pro will be fine.

Very cool, I can't wait for the nitro phazor to come out so I can convert my stinger to go along with the e-conversion I did on my other stinger.

Well I did get it flying at Ircha.
There is some big potential here.
Unfortunately the throttle stop screw fell out of the carb just as I was getting close to getting the throttle and pitch curves figured out, and no one there had a spare part.

I will have to take some photos of the finished bird. I never did.

I did get it flying at Ircha.
It was getting better each flight as I was figuring out the engine an dialing in the needles, while trying to break in the engine gently. It is not a ringed engine so you must break it in carefully.
All was going good till the throttle barrel lock disappeared off the engine in the air. I have one on order but it has not showed up yet.

I also am not quite sure that I have the ideal gear ratio with my first guess.
Lots to play with there. there are over 400 ratios to choose from.

I do not own a scale so I have no idea on the weight.
It is set up with;
Hitec HS6965 servos, on everything but throttle,
9254 on the throttle
Throttle Jockey pro gov
502 gyro with the 601 conversion in it,
MAH 4400 Li-Ion pack
Maxx Products Regulator set to 5.1V till I get a dropper for the 9254 servo.
All under the control of a Futaba, 8 channel FASST RX and my trusty 14MZ
For the moment I am running some old crappy TT 600 blades till my new Gohbee 620 carbons get here.
Tail blades are Gohbee 92mm carbon.

But it does have some good pop when I nail the collective.
