I am def ready to try 6s after all these years. should be a little beast! I really can't call this heli a 450x anymore LOL. I mean it's only using the tail mechanics and the boom and landing skids, main gear. It now is fitted with a 450 DFC head and a modified 4503d main shaft for height.

Just built and hovered #4 this evening for fun. It has:

MSH brain
Lynx frame
Lynx 3s motor
Lynx bellcrank
JR Forza esc and tail servo
Hitec 5065mg Cyclics from the back of a drawer
Lynx canopy
Align main blades

The rest of the helis mechanics are all bone stock, head, tail boom, tail assembly.

Should be a fine bit of fun for general toodling around. With the stock mechanics. Its pretty light.

Heres daddys little helper, holding it down as I test gyro, etc

This thread has been pretty silent for months so time to resurrect it a bit.

I've been tinkering with my 450X (Converted 450 3D to Tarot DFC head) and the micro Ikon V1 that I have on it. Yes a MICRO It was meant for a 180CFX but I got it really cheap and put it on this one. I've managed to get all the vibrations out of the heli and can even take off now with self leveling engaged. It's not pretty wiring with all the servo adapters but it's flying really well now. It has some custom modifications from the previous owner like an aluminum block over the back servos he machined. It also has a bigger Futaba S9257 tail servo instead of a micro. Maybe I'll like this heli better now.

Just curious...

How did You manage to get a Self Level mode from an iKON?

You just pick self leveling in software and fly around with it on. It doesn't work as good as the Spirit but you can do it. I wanted to try because others said it was possible. You can't have much vibration though. This size FBL really wasn't meant for a 450 either. Currently I have the max bank angle set to 45 degrees.

iKON does not offer a Self Level Mode...You are constantly fighting the FBL unit

Can You point out which iKON software Panel shows Self Level?

I had a micro iKON on a 450X...flew great

Right here. You will see I have Use Auto Level checked but not Use Rescue. And against advice on the left I have it set on the first bank.

Yes...and doing so means You are flying the model while fighting the FBL unit

Sorta like trying to correct the steering in a self-drive vehicle...nothing good can come of it

I'm surprised You can even get it off the ground to be honest...it's not designed that way

I know it wasn't I just wanted to see if it could be done like people said. I prefer Spirit FBL's but wanted to tinker with this Ikon. It lifts off fine and flies around just fine. I don't use leveling most of the time but it was a fun experiment.

I kept telling people you need a Spirit or other FBL for a flyable stability mode and they kept saying that a Brain/Ikon was fine for it. So I understand where you are coming from as I've tried to argue the same point.

Far too many think that HH's SAFE or Stability Mode is the same as AutoLevel/Rescue in the iKON...not true

Thx Jon! So it's basically a 450X with new FBL controller, servos and canopy?

When was it released?

I crunched mine, kissed the dirt tail first.

Ordered a tail boom and a tail rotor case. I lost a swash link and bent two others.

Main blade chopped the satellite. Scared the piss outta me when I walked up and saw a piece of circuit board. Breathed a lot easier when I saw it was just the sat.

Surprisingly, the main gear and main blades survived. Still have to check the spindle.

Still, it was a good day.

Today, I lost the stock motor on mine . Luckily it was on the ground at the time it started acting up, and for once I had the good sense not to fly it anyway. Would probably not have ended well. I got lucky and found a friend with a couple of Scorpion's for sale. Hope to have it back in the air by the weekend.

Took my last lynx 450x and replaced the 1 mm frame sides with custom 2mm frame sides. Flies really nice, I hope the thicker frame sides survive better should I put it in again. Probably going to order a spare set or so soon, if I ever have any money in the bank
