Default Logo 690SX v2 and Scorpion 4525-520

I just picked up a Logo 690SX v2 almost complete except for the motor. I have a motor that came with my Logo 700. I know in the Mikado website the recommended kv for the motor is 370-380kv.

Just wondering if any of you guys have tried this motor with your 690.

No. You need a motor that can run on the 15t pinion, and it can't output much more than 6kW peak.

i have used a Pyro 750 410 (with 14 pinion) on mine for 2 years... really great combination... unbeatable for me. and there are new motors for the Logo 690 on the market... just look on the web sites of i.e. Egodrift and XNova but be aware of motors with kV much bigger than stock... i would not go with high power motors and pinion 13 or even smaller... this could lead to trouble

Ciao
Michael

if you use a pinion lower than 15 tooth some have had problems stripping main gears , the bigger the pinion the more teeth have contact with the main gear .

Scorpion Hkiii-5035-410Kv
Scorpion Hkii-4525-450Kv Ultimate
Scorpion Hkiii-4035-330Kv
5035-410: Too much power output.
4525-450: Too much power output, Kv too high.
4035-330: Too little power output for proper 3D, Kv too low to maintain proper 3D headspeeds.

Why not, like, use a motor that's made for the heli?

I use 4525-520 in my 600SE, on 6 cell though. 13 tooth.

Still run up to 1600 with low amps and lots of power, almost unboggable.
Machine all up is 3.8Kg on VTX697.

I'm running the HK4525-520 that came in my old logo 700 ultimate using Jive Pro120hv. Sure the gearing is lousy on 12s but it works. The torque of that big can motor holds my favorite head speed of 1500rpm locked in with no bogging.

Good to know. I purchased a Scorpion 4525-450KV Ultimate since it’s on sale for $150.

Well, since the 15T is only 12mm height and main gear is 13mm it is not covering full point of contact.
However 11 and 12t have 14mm height and probably compensate that missing 1mm on 15T,but i might be wrong,it needs calculations.
Also,i never saw a stripped main gear on L690.It was always melted and then stripped with pinion that melted plastic.
There are a few reasons of melting.
Friction,wrong gear mesh,overheated motor,misalighned third motor bearing.
All of these factors creating heat, which at some point(certain temperature) melts main gear.
For first reason people recommend lubing gear with Dry fluid or any other fluid, including PTFE.
That methoid works for me.
I like to change setup time to time and for now i use Pyro 700 hand wound to 480Kv and 11T,headspeed 1900-2000.
Previous setup was Scorp 4035 500Kv with 12T(i had 11T also).
But i limited my collective to 12,5-12,8.
And of cource right now the weather is cold, which is another good factor for not melting main gear.
My logs show 6 to 6,5 of peak power output and it also shows that motors have to be limited to 6 kW of power.

if i would have to build a new L690 today... i would take into account this motor: https://www.egodrift.com/tengu-4525h...0-edition.html

... seeing my experiences with other Egodrift motors => this would be most probably my choice. L690 is a light bird, not asking for excessive power but for a light and highly efficient motor (but power does not hurt anyway )

The 15T on mine is taller than the main gear by ~1 mm so there is full contact on the entire height of the main gear.
