The dual rate/expo setting is separated from flight mode switch...switch F for dual rate/expo setting and switch B for flight mode.

That’s for switching between low rate (position 2) and high rate (position 0/1) I think...

The dual rate switch positions do not coordinate with Flight-Mode switch if you assign the switch F for DR Rate switch.
Switch B and Switch F are independent each other.

Alright guys some of you here have seen my what to get thread. I am considering getting a 150s but have been completely out of the hobby for 8+ years (I mean completely, I have not followed nor kept up with nothing) I am a little intimidated by all this new fbl controller stuff. I have 2 orig dx8's what kind of chance do I have with these TX's. Looks like I'm in for alot of new learning. This stuff wasnt that hard when I used to fly. As i read this thread I'm reading terms that i have never heard before. I'm not even sure I can set up a orig 7200bx or microbeast x (i still have a beast x suprised I still remember the name)

You’ll be fine. FBL is so much easier than messing with a fly bar.

I have never flown a fly barred heli it's the new units that just seem so over the top compared to what we used to have

Gotcha, but setting one up on the computer is really easy, the guided setup is easier than dealing with a Beastx. The only real hangup for some people is getting the drivers to work on some PCs, once you are past that, its all downhill if you can read. The Blade helis for most work out of the box, you might have to do a trim flight, but that is NBD.

And we're here to help you if you get stuck.

In the case of my 150s, there was nothing to setup except my tx. HH did a great job on the 150s.

This is just the production release, for those that already have the firmware there is absolutely no need to re-install the exact same firmware it came with.

The Blade 150 S Production Release Firmware is up on spektrumrc.com or via Spektrum programmer.

I cannot confirm you would be able to convert the 180cfx to a 150s but I also would be unable to deny that you could make the conversion via the parts you have mentioned in your prior post.

This type of conversion might void the original warranty since it is considered a modification, also not sure how product support may respond if contacted. Basically I am saying this is one of those at your own risks type of things.

If you have any questions please feel free to pm me here on helifreak.

The esc/battery tray is slightly different on the 150 s and the 180cfx tray might need a little trimming to ensure the 2'n'1 esc wires and esc itself clears everything properly.

I guess the real question is will the dual BL ESC behave properly with the older 180 receivers/flight controllers ... (?)

I guess technically I couldn't call it a 150S if this was done. It would just be a 180CFX with a motorized tail.

Maybe a helpful Brian Bremer could chime in

Just bought the 150s from a fellow freak but it has a ec2 connection on both ends. Is there anywhere that sells batts with this connection? Google is not helping. Also where is a good spot to buy charge leads and diffrent adapters? There used to be a spot somewhere that had almost everything adapter and connection wise just dont remember what site it was

Just maidened my 150S in the local Park here at San Diego. Anyways very impressed with the machine, a lot more impressed with it then I am/was with my 180CFX trio. I think i will try to convert my trio over, hell I'm not going to fly it anyways might as well see if I can get another 'flyable' heli out of it. And heck it it doesn't work I will try putting a uspirit in it see how that does.

Great machine, I think Horizon hit a solid double with this heli.

Say why isn't there a sub forum for the 150S?????

Two areas of concern:
  • Whether or not the 150S boom mount will plug & play in the Trio frame sides?
  • How to reprogram the Trio's receiver to run a tail motor ESC instead of a tail servo?

If you have solutions to these, please let me know.

Boom mount should fit as the frame part numbers are the same for the 150S and 180CFX.

Brian Bremer's response hinted at using the Spektrum programmer and of course, downloading 150S firmware and re-programming the receiver.

I'd do it right now, but have other pressing issues.

Jason - looks like you forgot the boom mount ...

Yup forgot the boom mount darn,
I just eyeballed the frames side by side they look the same. If I can’t reprogram the horizon receiver will get spirit instead. The trio is a very hard heli to fly

I changed my battery connector to an XT30 and use Tattu 450mah 75C packs. Works great!
