Typically, if you have a card that is less than 8gig, you should be able to format it with SD Memory Card Formatter (from SDcard.org). Many cheap items like low resolution action cams come with small 2 gig cards and honestly, the most reliable has been the one that came with my original DX8, which is 512meg!. I think I have two cards that will work as backups in the event that the ones I am using now go caput and they are cards that are in Skookum gyros that no longer can be trusted in the air. I will have a third when I replace the gyro in my last 518 AMA scale build. The ones that are currently in use are either class 4 or 6. I am surprised that a class 10 card worked for so long but maybe trying the formatter might breathe new life into that card. Or at least, until you can find one that is much slower. Take care.

Default The SD card problem....

This is an educated guess about the "better, high speed" class 10 cards.
I suspect that the upper class SD cards are designed or tuned to operate well at very high data rate speeds. And, this tweaking might have issued a low data speed cut off rate.
The DX transmitters operate at low data rate speeds. This is cheaper and there really is no need for high speed rates in the Tx's. So, as many have suggested, buy or borrow and "old" card as they were manuf. for low data transfer rates......

The class 10 only means that this card is built good enough to support at least 10 MB/s read/write speeds. It doesn't indicate a different protocol, it doesn't indicate an imcompatibility. It's just a better built card compared to class 4 or 6.

Why the heck doesn't my DX6 boot up with this .

I think my daughter has an old 1GB card in her smartphone, she is sleeping, I'm gone steal, I mean borrow, it

Reformat the SD card with this program
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

When in doubt for any device that uses SD cards, this cures 99% of the problems.

A little update- I downloaded the SD formatter and tried that. Didn't work.

I tried every SD and micro SD I own (including reformatting those). None worked.

I recently bought a 2nd DX6 G3 for my son and wanted to upload his planes, etc. Guess what, the original class 10 that HAD been working WORKS just fine. Downloaded the serial number, did the airware updates, uploaded all the models.

So now I go back to the first DX6 (not reading the card). Now it works just fine again. Does the current airware update need to "live" on the SD card to work maybe? Either way, both DX6's are working (for) now.

No, you don't have to keep the Airware update on the SD card to keep the transmitter working. After the update is applied, I believe the transmitter renames the update file and then ignores it after that.

Strange that the one DX6 is being that difficult.

When you were trying multiple SD cards, did you power the transmitter down between cards? I'm not sure it's absolutely necessary, but I only remove/insert cards with the power off.

Yep- powered down each time since the instructions recommended that process. Well hopefully things continue to work. Thanks again for those tips!
