Default DX8 G1 Gimbal Issue

I am having an issue with the Aileron axis on the RHS gimbal. When you move just right of center (like 1-2%) it will jitter around uncontrollably between 0-30%.
Thankfully I noticed this while simming and not actual flying, because it would have caused a crash immediately.

I sent an email to horizon support today and am awaiting a response, but was just curious if anyone else has experienced this issue? I see that there were some service bulletins issued years ago for similar sounding issues, but I don't think mine is covered (TS204X build number)

In the event that horizon comes back with a prohibitively expensive repair, what do you think my options are? I don't want to buy a new transmitter, but at the same time I don't want to put a lot of money into something that is 10+yr old technology and no longer supported by horizon.

Have you tried to do a calibration in the system settings menu?

Generally, the only thing that you are asked to pay for from the North American repair depot is shipping back to you. If there is anything out of spec, it is replaced when they have it for the gimbal issue. Just call them or start an RMA online. Take care.

Sorry for the delay.
No, I have not tried to calibrate, but it would seem that the gimbal freaking out wouldn't be a calibration issue?

Also I just noticed that giving the transmitter a light "bump" with my palm made the issue go away, haha.

This is still concerning though, i'm worried an intermittent issue like this coming back.

I've had that same jitter/wander on the rudder of my DX9 a couple years ago. I sprayed some electrical contact cleaner into the gimbals, worked them around and then recalibrated the sticks and have never had the problem again.

I like you luckily discovered the issue on the sim when my model kept spinning on me, otherwise the next flight at the field would have been very interesting
