An R4i is a good choice. For comparison, here is a photo of a stock R4i, an R4i that has be depined, and an R7 nano. The servo cables are there only for testing. For the M1, I will use an OMP S-Bus cable.

Thanks for the info and pics frank.

Is it possible to get sbus out of the r7, and if so, I guess the connection would be from the r7 ext pinned connection, via an sbus lead to the omp controller?

Thanks for your help

I assume you are refering to the R7 Nano. Once you load the "S.Bus R3/RSW-18US 3.24" firmware, and select "UDI" for the Serial Link, then you will get S-Bus output on the 7 pin.

I got the same news from OMPHobby in China. Due to delay in canopy production the M1 wont ship from the factory until 25th, which means the earliest dealers will have them is first few days of December.

ScotiaRc website is duly updated.

It does fly more like the 150X than the mCPX BL2. However, it is much more durable than those two helis. After 82 flights and a number of high speed crashes onto grass. The only parts I had to replace was a pair of blades, a main shaft and a servo horn. There was damage to parts such as the main frame and skids but the heli was still usable.

I've had a good experience with the 150X -- I mean after installing metal servo gears and servo savers, that is. When I was just starting to learn inverted flight, I had all sorts of crazy crashes -- plowed it directly onto my concrete driveway, slammed it into my car, wrapped it around lamp post, and more! These are crashes that would screw up any helicopter, so I cannot complain about installing new shafts, booms and main gears.

In any case, the M1 sounds like it's going to be a great heli for the rest of us out here in heli land.

On a side note... saw some of your videos with your micros and you are getting those orientations nicely! Would love to see a video on a small park or empty parking lot!

I just hope that this delay will make the spares and the batteries to be available along with the M1 !
Any news about that ?

OMPHobby is now selling the metal case servos on their website for $42.67 as opposed to $19.5 for the plastic case servos.

https://omphobby.world.taobao.com/ca...ageNo=2#anchor

This would make them the most expensive servos I have got, costing even more than my narrow band tail servos. I wonder if OMPHobby really expects that people will upgrade to these very expensive metal case servos?

No one has to buy them, they're just an option. Some people like bling and will pay for it. For those that don't care for bling, the plastic ones are there. Plus they're lighter.

For the power and quality that the servos punch in such a small package, I don't think the price is unreasonable. Take a look at what the guys in the glider scene pay for specialized super small servos (just like what the M1 uses). It gets crazy. From what I heard, the servos were one of the most difficult parts of designing the M1. They wanted to get them right the first time. R&D is expensive.
