![]() Looking at the T-Rex 700X Dominator for my next 700. However looking at the write up for it, it looks like the tail is geared for a head speed of 2100 - 2200. I see there are other options but the lowest head speed they support is greater then 1900. I just dont need to run that high of a head speed. I run 1750 and 1850.
Anyone run these speeds and are able to tell me how the tail holds and what gears you are running. Thanks

![]() I have the Trex 700 Dominator L with a (22 tooth) red tail gear i've ran my Trex just to see if my tail holds at 1800,but i had to re tune the tail a bit with a higher tail gain ( i think 5-8 points higher) I run the Vbar Neo and usually have my tail gain around 47-50.
I did some backward flights and backward hurricanes, funnels and hard stops,i didn't notice any irregular behaviors. Again,i had to re tune the tail gain a bit.If you're doing sport to mild 3D in my opinion and from what i've experienced, you should be okay... ![]()

![]() Oh I forgot to mention,I run 115 tail blades instead of the 106 stock Align tail blades.I noticed with the 106 tail blades my tail gain was up in the mid 70-80 to get a decent tail hold when i flew my regular headspeeds (2000,2100,2200).But since i now use 115's ,i have better mechanical tail authority therefore i am able to significantly reduce my fbl tail gain to 47-50.
The only draw back on the 115 tail blades was that the tail blades were that much closer to the ground,so i bought the Align 700X forward raked struts to allow a lot more clearance, plus they look cooler!

![]() You can set the tail gyro quite high, up to 95% and run rpm 1750.
Align Trex helis are made for high head speed. Much lower head speed provides the Logo 700 with rpm 1300. |

![]() From my experience lowest headspeed on stock TRex 700 with 115mm tailblades is around 1600ish. Below that it will fly like a wet sponge...

![]() Align do three different tail gear options for the 700X. The kit comes with the high headspeed / low gearing option (1:4.34 ratio), but there is an intermediate or a low headspeed option too. The intermediate will be fine for your needs and still is ok up to well over 2000RPM.
FWIW the early 700X kits shipped with the intermediate gearing option, it was only later when people started blowing tail drive gears in over-speeds that Align introduced the lower gear ratio.
