Default DS-12 3D printed knobs?

Hey guys,

So, I just bought a new DS-12 It's great!, I do like it, but being a pincher, I have a few minor issues I need to try to sort out. My fingers are rubbing against the two pots above the gimbals (5 & 6), so I either need to remove the pots, or find lower profile knobs to fit those pots.

So, Questions:-

1) Does anybody know of anybody who has 3D printed some knobs for these little pots that are not as tall as the standard ones?
2) It looks like the hole for the pot on the front case is 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) can anybody confirm, just in case I need to buy some blind plugs to fill those holes if I need to remove the two pots.
3) The switch collets on the top (not front panel) toggle switches on my DS-14 are a lower profile than the ones on the DS-12. I'd like to fit those lower profile collets to the DS-12 and lower the switches into the case a little further with some nylon spacers. Is it possible to buy 4 of those lower profile collets w/o having to buy the taller collets as well?

Thanks!!!

I had the same issue as you. I completely removed those knobs.

Anything that is printed and put there would have to be extremely low profile because I think it would still touch.

Did you fill the holes with a blanking plug? If so, what size of plug did you find that fits?

I'd like to keep the pots if I can, they'd be usefull for trimming tail and cyclic gains (or whatever) during intial first flights, and I have more than enough clearance with the knobs removed as the pot shafts are not that long. I've reached out to somebody I know with a 3D printer to ask if he can help, but I've not got a reply back yet so far. Will update this thread if/when I make any progress.

btw... you could use for some parameters, but (tail) gain is better done via trim buttons as this is per flightmode. the pots are better for values not that strongly linked to flightmodes!

Good point, I hadn't thought of that! Still re-learning how Jeti works Ha Ha!

The same plugs they sell to cover the holes for the toggle switches? I think the holes for the pots are slightly larger.Just slightly.

I have some 3D printed knobs in the works. Once they arrive I'll post some pics, but basically they will be be about 3mm shorter than the stock knobs, which will give me enough clearance for my fingers. Cost a massive £3.50 inc P&P, or around $4.00

I also removed the upper rotary switches and put in the Jeti plugs.

... another idea when removing the knobs: put switches there instead! would give a bit more room for the fingers and more switches available. so close to the sticks could be good for i.e. rescue.

Yep, that is what I have done. I have replaced both knobs with switches, a locking 2 position on the left and a sprung 2 position on the right, which I do use for rescue if the heli I am flying has it setup.

I didn’t need the room as I thumb, but I wanted the same switch configuration as my other Jeti tx, a DS-16.

Got some really nice knobs 3D printed here in the UK. They are just what I wanted, look great and are around 3mm lower than the stock knobs, which gives my fingers the clearance I was looking for. Will post some pics tomorrow when I have more time.

Pics of the knobs that were made for me by Gary Oliver at RC3DPrint.com

These look great to me, and have a sort of metallic fleck in the plastic that makes them bend in with the front facia plate. They were not expensive either.
