![]() I have been off line for a good while now so I thought I would check in.
My job and Covid-19 has put a slow down on my progress with the Velos UAV and ROW concept. An important part of determining power efficiency with the wing in flight is being able to see and monitor motor amperage in real time using telemetry. Doing so, I will be able to see any motor amperage changes, both positive and negative relating to performance, with changes to the wings AOA and airfoil shape. My present flight system does not give me that ability. The system of choice now is with Cube Pilot (Blue Cube and ADS-B monitoring) and Ardupilot's Mission Planner. It's a very powerful system and will most certainly take me to my next destination. Lots of redundancy with that electronic flight system and adding it to the Velos UAV, which in itself has redundancy, will make a very powerful and reliable flight platform. It will be a complete redesign of my system and with parts slow to arrive, will take some time to get back in the air. They say good things come to those who wait. If that's true, this should be spectacular. ![]()

I have the carrier board with the ADS-B integration in front of me and it works. But with the antenna soldered on the board, it's not going to work under the hood of the Velos. And with no sort of I-Pex connector on the board, it's going to be a mod of the carrier board to bring the antenna to the outside. Are you planning to do this mod? I'm looking to put a PingRX on the RF housing and run a cable to the Cube. Bart |

![]() Thanks Bart!
Since I don't have the build completed I had no idea the ADS-B antenna couldn't get a signal from under the fiberglass canopy of the Velos. Let us know how the PingRX works out. I could install the carrier board on the top RX plate of the Velos to allow some (one half at the most) of the antenna to stick out the top of the canopy. Do you think that would be enough or does the entire antenna need to be exposed. Thanks you so much for your input, I really appreciate it! Allan

![]() So I have been gone a while but its been busy. Check out the video release by Mission Go and their utilization of the Velos UAV. Very exciting stuff.

![]() Very cool indeed.
The Velos UAV does the job well. That day in the Vegas desert was very hot and very windy but had little if any effect on the performance of the Velos. Much more to come...its only the beginning. ![]() To follow along, you can go to www.MissionGo.io and see their operation. They are an impressive group.

![]() They beat me (in time) in a few weeks I will demo the same kind of project but designed and made a more aerodynamic, less fragile (for these types of projects a must) payload bay on the Velos for this project.
I cannot post a picture here but this is a link to the photo https://imgshare.io/image/NAgQcK Bart |

![]() Sounds great Bart! Helifreak won't let you post photos yet?
Love to see it here. Payload boxes for the Velos are interesting. They need to be strong and light to handle the static weight of the payload carried but also any additional weight generated by "g" forces in flight. From what I learned about airflow around the fuselage for my wing (which I am not done with yet) I know cruise airflow is down and back so the fuselage itself being slightly nose low in cruise will help "shadow" the payload box keeping it aerodynamic. So the only real concern in my opinion is the down and aft sweep of the nose of the box from the fuselage and the tail of the box to prevent turbulence and aerodynamic drag. Interesting stuff.

![]() Check out the new video from Velos Rotors.
The Velos UAV continues to be a very important part of growing UAV operations worldwide. Enjoy! Been very busy and still haven't had the time to prove out my wing...I'll get there one day! Regards, A Viking
