Just to eliminate it as a possible cause remove the SD card. It's highly unlikely but it only takes a second to test.

i did have the card in when it happened, but the problem is still there with it removed. and there is no way i know to delete the model once it is in.

To delete any model...

System Setup - Model Utilities - Delete Model

You will be able to delete any model number but there will always be at least one single default model remaining

What happens if you:
Delete the model,
Power off the radio and remove the battery.
Let it sit for 5 min
Insert the battery and power it up
Create a new model (heli, airplane or sailplane)
-Does it create 3 models?
If not, you may have to start with a new model and configure it like the one that is causing you problems.

It could be the original configuration file is corrupt and then you keep copying it into the radio. And starting with a "New Model" will "fix it".

If the New Model creates 3 models, then you are stuck waiting until Monday.
And, if you decide to call on Monday, expect long delays for Tech Support. You will be in the queue along with 1000 other who got a new toy that they can't figure out and need help.

Another thing you might try is reloading/updating the firmware if you haven't so if there is any error in it then it should be gone. Download from the Spektrum page. Your radio needs to be registered. Load the firmware onto the SD card from your PC then insert and boot the radio.
