![]() Hi Guys,
Please forgive the poor terminology, I'm slowly getting back into things. So I have an Align 550X with the FC6250HX all setup by the book. In SAFE hover I had to adjust the roll setting in forward programming to get a nice hands off hover. When I fly without SAFE she will drift back on me. I have checked the CoG and this seems fine. What is the correct way to trim her for flight out of SAFE please. She was calibrated before first flight and I'm confident this is OK as the SAFE hover is fine. Thanks for your help and please forgive what is probably a very simple question. Part of me wants to just click the TX trim forward like I would with my fixed wings lol |

If your having a drift in normal flight then the cg is off or your swash is a little out of level.if your positive the cg is spot on then either adjust the elevator linkage forward a little or go into the sub trim in forward programming and trim the elevator forward Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() Agility mode... A small amount of drift is expected in normal mode. In calm conditions the drift is barley noticeable but if you fly in high winds it will stand out more so. as long as you set the fwdprg->setup->throttle->hover to your tx normal throttle curve hover % once you switch to stunt 1 or stunt 2 the model should hold solid.
CG being off will only affect Normal Agility mode (aka stability mode off), CG is very important for a lot of different reasons so it is well worth the effort to check and determine where the flight batteries should be mounted. To low of cyclic gains can lead to drift as well, 550, quick guestimate, roll and pitch P and I should be near 75 for both and leave roll d @ 7 and pitch d @14. Generally P and I on the cyclics will be the same value, you can slowly raise them 5% at a time and evaluate the flight performance. If you set the fwdprg->setup->FM Chanel make sure you set the gains for each flight mode. Your cyclic P&I gains should end up between 75 and 85 on the 550 model. I have a cyclic tuning post up in this forum topic (fc6250hx), it is adjusted by response and feel as opposed to maxing things out. The cyclic and tail gains are pretty forgiving so don't be afraid to adjust and put a flight on the model.

![]() Thanks Brian.
I haven't had chance to try her again and i will admit that i need to do more research with regard to PIDS. I will check out your tuning post. I like the gyro that much that i have just put one in a 700X. |

![]() Hi Brian,
As a quick update, in normal mode i upped my head speed first and saw no noticeable change in the drift. So i adjusted the subtrim, i think i added about 10 clicks. This has stopped the drift in normal mode. However, if i go into IU1, she starts drifting forward. It can be argued that i dont need IU1 right now, but i would like to understand why this is happening please? |
