Default DS24 finish chipping

Hi,

Just putting it out there. Is anyone having issues with the colour finish chipping? Iíve had my radio for about 2 years. The fist of the two years I maybe flew 4 times and last year due to COVID didnít fly for 7 months. Radio live innit case and is also left in there when I set up a model. At the field it comes out for the flight then goes back in case. I have many chips all over the radio and some in places where there is no explanation as to why there would be a chip. I have written to Jeti asking what can be done to fix this problem as it seems to me quite bad for this to happen to a radio of this value.

I asked if they would consider sending out an un painted empty chassis where I will then have it powder coated and then swap my parts in.

I will update when I get an answer.

Thanks.

I too have experienced chipping on the painted Jeti bodies. In my case I have a DS-14 Diablo (Yellow Paint), a DS-16 Carbon (Red Paint), and a DS-16 Carbon (Black Anodized).

Both painted bodies (Yellow and Red) have minor spots where the paint has chipped away. On the black anodized body there is virtually no blemishes in the exterior color.

In general an anodized coating on aluminum is much more robust than a painted finish. I do however wish the paint finish on these units was a little more robust as the painted finish seems to get battle scars easier than I would expect.

Powder coating is generally thick stuff. I think you would have difficulty in the side slider and face plate regions with too much powder buildup.

I still prefer the painted colors over most of the anodized colors as well.

I have the first run of fully unlocked DS-14's with a few years of hard use, and I don't even have a blemish.

If you didn't cause that through misuse I would contact Jeti support. Based on the pic, its hard to tell, I would have made an effort to clean it before posting a pic. If it were misuse I would reference the carbon but its too dirty to tell.

I also experienced this on my red DS-16 Carbon and contacted Jeti, they were aware of the problem and shipped me a bit of touch up paint at no cost.

So I can only recommend you to do that
