Default Wiring diagram for Smart ESC, is it correct?

Hi everyone, I'm about to finish to setting up a new Mikado Logo480, Scorpion motor, Avian 80 Smart ESC and FC6250HX
Following PRGFWD steps instructions, I should connect servo A in port#1, ESC in #2, servo B in #3, servoC in #4...done it several times but servo A doesn't work.
Now everything works fine with non-Smart plugging diagram; is there something I miss? I think that way I'll have no telemetry data to my DX8 Gen2
TX is up to date with the latest firmware release.

No, the Smart ESC should be plugged into port 2. That is why you are not getting telemetry. The wiring diagram is right in the manual as I don't have it with me nor am I in front of my 6250 which is setup with a Smart ESC

Don.

thanks for your answer!
Started with correct wiring, but as I said, servo A doesn't move, only way to have it working is plug them as a non-Smart ESC.
Now I'm at the ESC throttle calibration and this is not working; double checked my endpoints, servo monitor etc, but motor isn't running, and ESC isn't entering the calibration at full throttle.
I think is a signal problem due to non-Smart plugging
Also tried to switch between servo plug and it ended with a non working servo when connect in port #1, as it deliver no signal/power

Either setup will operate however you will loose smart telemetry connecting the smart esc to slot 1.

For safety pull the pinon gear. In the case of HV esc's you must power the system by connecting the flight battery to the ESC (otherwise it is not powered).

Regards,
Brian

ESC is Avian 100A 6S not HV; for safety sake motor mount is away from main gear.
Tried to setup a new heli from scratch today but can't solve
Would a firmware update of FC6250HX worth? Purchased it in march 2020 and never used till now

You mentioned Avian 80 in your original post. Not really sure when 6s became not HV

Just to double check (I have run into a few people counting slots on the fc6250hx instead of going by the label for each slot)

4651t into the slot labeled "Bind/Prog/RX2"

Servo A in the slot labeled "1"

Avian ESC in the slot labeled "2"

Servo B in the slot labeled "3"

Servo C in the slot labeled "4"

Tail Servo in the slot labeled "5"

Power via flight pack, fc6250hx will detect the avian smart esc, tx should show smart esc telemetry and swash servos should operate correctly.

If you are in a hurry to test fly you can do the non smart wiring for now.

Let me check into this, was your esc purchased recently or sometime last year? There was an update to the avian esc firmware last november, either version should work but it may help to narrow down what is going on.

Regards,
Brian

on

Avian 100 Release Firmware, no issue.

Avian 100 November 2020 update, no issue. (improved governor, worth the update).

Avian 100 January 2021 update (I was not aware of this one), tested today and no issue.

Brian

My bad Brian, ESC is 100A not 80A !
Went through setup and re-plug many times now and no way it doesn't work in Smart configuration.
ESC plugged in port #1 (I know first slot is for 4651) and swashplate is fine.
By the way, can't calibrate throttle on ESC and motor won't run...probably some radio setting, but I checked them dozen times

As per FWDPRG on DX8 my firmware is 5.03.00
Avian 100A was updated 2 days ago.
Many thanks for your support Brian

Well, tried to update again ESC firmware and BOOM !! Now everything works fine
ESC in port #2, ESC throttle calibration went smooth and motor is running as expected.
I'd like to thank you Brian for your support.
