Guess the difference between fpv and CP helis is that people flying helis are willing to help w issues but if you ask someone in person at an fpv event to help they basically tell you to figure it out online or to go ask someone else. Great first experience w the fpv community. NOT!

That's a sad thing to report, but it sounds within character. Do you think it's an age thing?

I don't doubt you feel like you had a bad experience and am sorry for that.

How did you approach the people? Was they flying, in a meeting, working to resolve an issue and did you make them feel you was rudely interrupting? Where did this happen? All we have to go on is your view and you do know there are more than one side to every story.

No there was tons of people just standing around watching and chatting. I was in the back looking out of place w my bright yellow high vis work shirt on (i work at the airport) and just watched them fly for about 10 or 15. After about 10 minutes is when I approached a group of 3 that were talking about their setups but as soon as I started to ask questions, only one would really respond and the other two bolted. So idk... maybe it was me and the situation I walked into but still, they could of been a bit more helpful instead of basically saying go figure it out on your own like the rest of us.
