Default Futaba R7008SB and R7108SB receivers

Hello all
I was looking at the R7108SB and R7008SB receivers on Futaba USA website.
To be honest, the website and lack of detail on their website is discouraging and I would think the manufactures website would give details on the receivers functions and intent, especially in visually looking at the receivers they look the same with different part numbers?
Does any of you Helifreak users know the differences in this two receivers?
Thanks
Boyd

They've changed antennas. The new antennas offer a significantly higher gain over the old antennas. This is a quote from Flying Giants hope it helps:

It has been stated that nobody knows what the gain difference is between the old and new antennas. Well it is right in the FCC document for AZP-R7014SB-24G permissive change from the old to new antennas page 7, section 3.3:

The old antennas have a gain of -5.35 dBi
New antennas have a gain of +2.10 dBi

A change of 7.45 dBi is not a slight improvement. It is a huge improvement in a link budget.

Is the 7018SB a new version of the one discontinued a couple a years ago or just old stock ?
If it's anew version how to we recognize the new 7018SB from the old one causing issues?
I recall the 7018SB being sensitive to HV setup and browning out in flight !

As far as I know there is not a "new" version of the 7018 out there. I've been using one since they came out, but I feed power to the servo bus like I've done for decades.

The 7014 is a new RX that has higher gain antennas and the ability to do both FASSTest and FASST. I'm using one in my Mamba70 biplane. Working great.

Thank-you unless you use crazy power hungry servos I know the 7018SB is fine, I was just wondering about what have had been done to the 7018SB.

7018SB comes with the new 16IZ transmitter and is still sold by many retailers included Futaba USA.

That is incorrect. The R7108SB comes with the 16IZ.

I see, sorry 7108SB with a R in front of it yes.
A friend of mine lost a pattern plane with this receiver so I was wondering if the R7108SB had seen an update, answer is no so I'm happy I got my 16IZ without it and I'll just stay away from this Rx!
Thanks for enlightening me on this, subject close for me!

You kept referring to a 7018. The=at is different from the 7108, with or without the "R".

You're right, I didn't identify the Rx properly in my earlier posts
