Default Do MA ball links get old?

I have had several of the gray MA Ball links break in the last few weeks. The links that are breaking are the blade to swash links that break. Usually the ones on the blade grip arm. The links them selfs are 10 years old, but have not been used till now.

The other possible cause is I do carry the helicopter (whiplash gasser) by the head and I may be torquing the grip while loading/unloading the helicopter or carrying it. But I have been carrying this helicopter and others like this for years and never had this problem.

I've had a lot of the grey links split, usually in the thin part. All of them were from the original MA stock, pre miniatureaircraftusa.de. So far they have never caused a crash.
I don't know if they are still using original inventory or have had new ones molded.
