Question Status of graphene lipos

So graphene lipos are on the market for quite some time. Did anybody collect any stats?

How many flights can they do? Better than regular lipos or not?

Search for posts on rcgroups. A lot of testing was documented on there. Maybe it has been kept up to date.

Wow that's great data to study there. Gonna take an evening or so.

But what I look for is number of cycles you can do with graphnes. Has this increased?

Articles on RCGroups are from around when Graphenes were introduced, and nobody did kill any back then. I think now, after some years, there must be some guys among us who brought some Graphenes to end of life and have some stats

Since there was/is NO mass migration to graphene to date . . . I think that says it all.

naaaa... marketing works better than actual/factual data...hence why everyone here fly pulse, gens ace, HRB, maniax( actually a good lipo)..you name them. i see people still buying TP and Maxamps which are lowest grade lipos for the bin with retail price 200$.

The "next big thing" in RC batteries may be high continuous discharge li-ion packs. The drone guys are already starting to use them. They last more cycles, have more mah per volume and they don't care if you leave them fully charged sitting on a shelf for months or years. They also typically cost about $5 a cell (or about $60 for a 6S 2P 6000mah-ish pack) and you can easily make your own packs out of loose cells now that inexpensive mini spot welders have become a thing.

Molicel already has a 4200mah 21700 cell rated for 45A continuous discharge up to 170 degrees and they're only going to get better. This particular cell has been a big deal in the vaping community because using it in this way does not violate the manufacturer's recommendations unlike with other "high discharge" li-ions on the market.
Ah Clem likes this.

Graphenes are/were like any other lipo. You get something different from the same brand with different batches. One month great lipos next month crap. Doesn’t matter if they are Graphenes or not.

And I am still not sure that the lipos with “graphene” in our hobby grade lipos even makes a difference. If they even have any in some cases. Typically a graphene vs non graphene 6s 5000 will weigh 100 more grams. There isn’t 100 grams of graphene. So what is the weight? Likely higher C rated cells or higher mah cells for more amps at a lower C rating.

One needs be be on top of current trends in the lipo market to know what to buy from month to month. Brand A is great in June but sucks in July. So now brand B is the July battery.
