Default Programming HW Platinum PRO V4-60A

Curious what settings everyone uses on a HW Platinum PRO V4-60A on their Oxy4 Max

- Flight Mode: Heli LineTH / Heli ElfGov / Heli StoGov
- LiPo Cells: Auto Calc
- Cutoff Type: Soft Cutoff
- Cutoff Volt: Disabled / 2.8V / 2.9V / 3.0V / 3.1V / 3.2V / 3.3V / 3.4V / 3.5V / 3.6V / 3.7V / 3.8V
- BEC Voltage: 7.4V (KST DS215MG V3), where does the Tail Voltage get set? Servo: KST X15-755X
- Start-up Time: 4S-25S
- Gov Param P: 0-9
- Gov Param I: 0-9
- AR Time: 0S-90S
- Restart Accel: 1S-3S
- Brake Type: Disabled / Normal / Proportional / Reverse
- Brake Force: 0%-100%
- Timing: I emailed Scorpion, they said to use 5 degree ~ 8 degree
- Active FW: Enabled / Disabled
- Startup Power: 1-7

governor store and the rest on default works for me. Leave timing at default, it's got more to do with the ESC than with the motor, scorpions recommendations are for their own motor ESC combo and wont necessarily be optimum when using the HW.

All the servos work off the same voltage supply, as they are HV servos 8V will be fine.

I would not push the KST 215s at 8V. Your tail servo is capable of 8V, but I would leave at 7.4V. A better matched combo would be the KST X12.

I like doing ESC gov exclusively, so for me HW Sto Gov, which means disable FBL gov and use flat throttle curves in TX.

LiPo auto is fine

Cutoff type soft

LVC disabled

BEC 7.4 V due to your KST 215. Tail will just have to live with lower than max voltage

Startup try default then adjust to your liking

Gov P I always increase default by 1

Gov I again increase by 1

AR time if you’re not doing autorotations just disable it by setting to 0

Restart accel default is okay, won’t matter since I assume no autorotations

Brake disabled for sure!

Brake force won’t matter since brake is disabled

Timing default or reduce it some, whatever makes the right balance between motor temp and high performance for your taste

Active FW enabled

Startup power reduce default by 1 or 2 then check. Adjust to your liking.

The 215 is an HV servo, it's perfectly happy at 8.0V or even 8.4V.. I've ran them like that loads of times. The official spec for the servo says operating voltage 6.0V to 8.4V.

Smoggie where did you find that info? Here is what I see on KST’s page.

If you can link that info, that would be great. Never seen it listed as such anywhere.

All HV servos are supposed to be able to operate on a 2S LiPo, so have to tolerate up to 8.4V

I see you one and raise you one : j/k

https://www.kst-servos.com/produkte/...e/ds-215mg-v3/

What you're saying might be true. No issue here, as I stopped using them right about the time the X12s came out. I would trust data directly from KST's website before I would any old place that sells them.

Appreciate all of the replies. A few questions, I have programmed the ESC with the following:

- Flight Mode: Heli StoGov
- LiPo Cells: Auto Calc (Default)
- Cutoff Type: Soft Cutoff (Default)
- Cutoff Volt: Disabled
- BEC Voltage: 7.4V
- Start-up Time: 15S (Default)
- Gov Param P: 5
- Gov Param I: 6

- AR Time: 0 (Wouldn’t I want the ability to auto/practice autos should I have a issue in the air and the heli needs to auto down)?
- Restart Accel: 1.5s (Default)
- Brake Type: Disabled (Default)
- Brake Force: 0% (Default)
- Timing: 15deg (Default)

- Active FW: Enabled (Cant find in the manual what this actually does)
- Startup Power: 2 (Cant find in the manual what this actually does)

AR (auto restart): a quick spool up during an autorotation, acting on THR hold %, the esc will direct power to the rotor to maintain a barely enough rotation, hence, in case you want to abord the auto, the restart will be quick enough to recover HS.

Active FW: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=657204

Startup power: how fast the heli will spool up on startup (this is a personal preference. You can play around on the bench (all blades OFF) to see the difference in numbers input.

scoio: Thank you for the information. I have not had a heli in about 8 years so I am re-learning.

That said, for very mild 3d and practicing the basics, would you change anything from what I posted in regards to the settings I programmed in the ESC?

I am running the same esc with the same settings as yours.
Just check out your motor specs to make sure Timing is set correctly.
Other then that you are good to go. Don t forget to calibrate the esc and follow the manual for setting the gov store.

Happy flights!

Actually start-up power is not about speed.
It determines the torque of motor in initial start up. If the motor hesitates add the value, if start up feels aggressive reduce it. Some motors have strong magnets or there could be friction in drive. Then this setting will help.

7.4V is nominal, thus meaning it is good for full charge lipo at 4.2V per cell = 8.4V

Which is sort of moot, since the BEC only goes up to 8V max.
