Default Phoenix RC Install help please!

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone can help shed some light on an issue I am having with Phoenix RC.

I have tried installing Phoenix RC 5.5 from the 'rc-thoughts . com' website, following the guide. I can install the software, apply the updates, configure the transmitter. but no matter what I have tried no models will load. I can select and change the flying sites, zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel, can pan the camera around holding the right mouse button. I change settings and add landing sites etc. I can select all different models from the model list. I can even modify the models. but none of them will load in and it is completely confusing me.

I have tried on a Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit system. windows 7 Pro system and a windows 10 home system and the result is all the same. I feel like I am missing something simple but I feel like I've looked everywhere to find a solution and keep coming up short.

Someone please help me! lol.

Thanks in advance,

Do you know if DirectX has been updated?
I think it comes on the DVD but needed updating.
It seems like Phoenix gives the prompt to update that.

Also in C:\Program Files (x86)\ PhoenixRC\recourses\objects\aircraft

That is where Phoenix stores all of its models. All of the choices you have in your model menu in the sim are listed there with the models inside the different choices.

Also you can try a different download site as well try version 5.5 without updating it first.
I would almost bet that there is some needed helper program missing.

One idea:

Isn't Phoenix 5.5 using an old DirectX 9.0c or something??

My old RealFlight 6.5 is too but still much newer than
stone old Phoenix.

Or was Phoenix using OpenGL rendering?

The guy that built this Jet to fly in Phoenix might can help. He knows a lot about this stuff and did a spectacular job on this jet.

He calls his self 3dxl on youtube. Also has a website that hosts a lot of Phoenix downloads.

Default lost PhoenixRC 5.5 installation DVD

Hi, I have the dongle but lost my PhoenixRC 5.5 installation DVD. Trying to load it on my Windows-7 computer from links on the rc-thoughts website I repeatedly get "Phoenix_DVD_5.5.zip failed to download". Unable to find an installation DVD for windows-7 for sale anywhere including ebay. Is there different place to download the installation DVD or purchase one ?
Thank you,

Mike

Which OS? What browser?

I clicked on it in Firefox Nightly (Windows PC) and it started downloading right away.
Maybe change the OS, browser or version, use a download manager addon which can resume partly broken / stopped downloads, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have been to rc-thoughts and all the other websites suggested. When I did find the Phoenix_DVD_5.5.zip it failed to download. Verified that I have DirectX 6.1 loaded on my Windows-7 PC - updating is not an option. I had PhoenixRC 5.5 working on this Windows-7 PC but it started acting up, so I uninstalled it - not realizing that I needed the installation DVD to reload it.
If an original PhoenixRC 5.5 installation DVD pops up for sale somewhere - I'm interested.
Much appreciated, Mike

So does the download start? For how long? How much is downloaded? Where does it fail? At the end?
Have you tried with a download manager and a different browser or version?

Default success loading PhoenixRC without installation DVD

I was finally able to download everything needed from RC-Thoughts.com. The downloads would not work during daytime hours EST. But would download OK in the late evening hours. PhoenixRC 5.5 version 6.0.i loaded up and running on an eight year old Windows-7 PC (HP ThinkCenter Intel CORE-5 miniature desktop with no additional graphics hardware) It is working well without problems. Using a 75inch TV for a monitor.
Thank you for everyone's help,
Mike
