Did anyone successfully autorotate the 270?
Given the small size of the 270 (rotor area/weight ratio) and the lack of any freewheel mechanics, I am wondering if anyone with real autorotation experience on larger helis (550+) has managed to successfully land the bird in autorotation.
I have seen some videos with successful Blade 450X autorotations (rocky but without damage) so maybe it's also possible with the slightly smaller 270. No that I want to start practicing this on the 270, just wondering if possible just in case...

Try throttle hold 1 meter of the ground and see if the headspeed holds up. You can get a owb for these to assist an autorotate, but you won't do it without as you will be fighting the motor magnets all the way down.

I know people were doing autos with the oxy 3 stretched to 285 gave slightly and i mean slightly better results...u have to come in real hot and flare at last second. 270 would need an auto rotation gear from lynx
[ame="https://youtu.be/WFcEC7NMquI"]Oxy3 autorotation by Cory - YouTube[/ame] edit ...here u go this guy does it with oxy 3 stretched and im pretty sure aron prang (sorry if i misspelled name) was doing autos with 255mm blades!

Wow - on these small ones you need a lot of confidence that when the stone falls down, positive pitch does the job at the very end... - impressed.
EDIT: Just found the complete set for the 450X from Lynx: main gear and one way hub (LX1289) or one way hub w/o main gear (LX1290). Since we are sharing the main shaft diameter of 5mm, I am wondering this would fit and add one way feature to the 270?

U might be ok the main gear is the same. U just have to check and see if the hub with tail belt teeth is roughly the same size. If i remember correctly and dont quote me the 450 x had the black hub on main gear and i think another tail belt pulley right next to main gear going towards back of boom so it is different. Basically just see if hub matches size. Almost positive it doesnt
Edit: just checked out lx1289 while the gear would work idk if that one way hub will because the black hub(with teeth) might not be right height for it could be to thick or to thin, where the hub would meet bearing blocks. The one way bearing might not even fit the black hub ...diameter wise...... Worth giving it a shot i guess

For every landing with this heli I hit throttle hold about a meter or two off the ground and it auto's down nicely. I don't want a last second tip-over or auto gyro correction from a breeze or updraft with a full on head speed when its just a foot of the ground and too late to do anything.
