Default Dx7 set up- how do you like it?

I have really enjoyed flying the Oxy3, it has really helped improve my flying skills.
I am using a DX7 and Brain FBL unit, I imagine very common on the oxy3.

So I am thinking I should enact rescue on my set up. Whats your preferred set up on switches and channel assignment? Also what sort of values in the brain for rescue do you find work well?

I see some do a mixing in the radio, I have never mixed..lol and some give up Tx gyro. I have one regular Lemon sat Rx and one full size PPM rx going to my sat port.

Basically any advice for optimization if you were to set up a 7 channel Tx.

Thanks, more flight than bench time to you!!

Nobody, really?

Figured someone else would have a DX7 set up with this great heli and be willing to share how they like their switches configured with rescue

So many options in configuring things, with time and experience I am sure some find advantages in set up and use of a DX7 and Brain set for rescue.

If I were running 7 channels and wanted rescue, I would probably give up tail gain. I did try it for kicks (DX9) and realized it would take time to get it dialed in as well as to practice using it. Since I'm comfortable with my manual bailouts, I decided I'd rather spend my limited flying time working on other things.

I don't have a Brain - but I have a DX7 and a Spirit on a 450 (but would work the same on a OXY).

I did this a LONG time ago , so apologies if any confusion. I allocated Aux 2 to Gyro and Gear to Aux 2 for the 450 model. The Aux 2 switch (which I don't use on any other models) will then control the Gain setting. I then replaced the Aux 2 switch with a momentary and swapped it's position with Rudder dual rate so that it is next to my right index finger. The tail gain is controlled within the Spirit software.

I still use this and it all works fine, just a little rusty on how I did it.

Cheers,
Mike.

I don't know whether it's about skill level as much as personal preference. I just started with manual bailouts because I felt that would force me to develop better skills. It's worked nicely and I'm comfortable with it. I know some guys who are much more experienced (and better) pilots who like and use rescue in their practice.

Rescue is a state of mind - sort of. Knowing I have it, gives me the courage to try things that I may not have mastered or even tried before in IRL or sim. I don't always play safe and get down something in the sim first and may try it the first time ever while flying or may be just something I do at a much higher rate of speed, or whatever. Knowing I have rescue sort of gives me a grip and grin attitude and allows me to fly fearless - mostly.

Thanks for the replies!!

I will play around with it some more and see if I like the rescue more than the ability to switch gains.
