Default NAZA GPS Question

So I am looking to form my own lexan shell and want to place the NAZA GPS unit under it.

Will the GPS perform as designed under a thin layer of lexan? Is the mast just for getting it away from RF/Magnetic interference?

Thanks!

Test to see if you need the mast. Many folks mount flat on quads and they get full sat lock.

From where I have seen other mount you do not "need" a GPS stand you just want it way from anything else.
