Default Align RCE-BL35P ESC with MX450

I am working on partly togeatherTrex 450 sport I just picked up. I have a MX450 3400kv motor and a RCE-BL35P ESC, I have read that this combo works but I dont understand why. Is the motor over rated or the ESC under rated. Shoud the ESC be replaced with a 50a?

Where did you hear that you can't use them together? I think that they should be fine. Here's a link to an Align kit that uses them together if I read it right.

Search for the motor and the esc at the above link and I think that you will find that they are compatible. You need to determine that the esc is compatible with outrunner motors (which it is). compatible voltage and amperage (which it is) and compatible bec voltage (which it also is).

Of course you should do your own research and maybe someone else here can confirm with first hand experience.

You might want to bench test the esc before committing to using it by assembling the esc, receiver, battery and servos and giving it a go. It's better to find any problems before spending the time installing all of the equipment in the heli.

I understand that they have been used togeather but dont know why they would be.

The spec of the motor is.
Input voltageC7.4-14.8V 2-4cell Li-Po
Max continuous current:46A/68A(5sec)
Max output power:Approx. 500w/730W(5sec)

The spec for the ESC is
Contimuous current:35Amps
Surge current:45Amps for 15seconds
Supporting motor types:2 poles to 10+poles in/outrunner brushless motors
Supporting maximum RPM:2poles=>190,000rpm
Supporting input voltage:5.5V~16.8V
Supporting battery types: Li-ion/ Li-poly 2~4 cells, Ni-Mh 6-12 cells
BEC output: 5~6V,current 3A

The max continuous current for the motor is 46A with a burst rating of 68A but the ESC has a continuous rating of 35A and a burst of 45A thats over 11A differance in the wrong direction. So how it that " compatible voltage and amperage (which it is)" but I have see Align kit that uses them together just as you have. So somthing is not being rated correctly. THe ESC is rated low or the Motor is high.

the align esc can handle 60 + amp burst for a couple of seconds so no problem with the 450mx motor
