Default Static Glitches affecting Pantera?

Hi all;

I've posted this over in the Skookum forum, but just wondering...

Has anyone experienced static like glitching in their FBL controller (Mine's an SK540)?

Mine's affecting my Pitch channel massively (much worse in last 4 or 5 flights).

I just wonder, as the Pantera's frames are made of (what I presume is) non-conductive plastic. Knowing that belt drives can be great little static generators, I grounded that out along time ago (Motor plate -> CF tailboom -> bearing in tail gearbox -> static wick on tail).

BTW, radio is Jeti DS16 (hall effect sensors = no pot glitching) -> R9EX Rx -> SK540 Clear.

cheers,
ed

You have to ground the tail, I could see the sparks on my flying from the tail belt.

Tail was grounded. Seems to be resolved now with the addition of a grounding strap on the main rotor, a pair of Ferrite rings and re-application of teflon spray on the Belt. Once again - a happy Pantera!

Folks, I hate to say this because you feel you've found a solution but this is likely related to a problem with the radio system itself instead of the Pantera. Otherwise, the forums would be lit up with people complaining and since they're not, ergo sum, it's not a Pantera problem. Speaking of which, the Pantera has had the same über reliable tail design going on 10 years. And note, I introduced it at a time when conventional wisdom insisted the torque tube was the way of the future and we were ridiculed for insisting a belt-drive was the way to go. Strange thing, conventional wisdom, eh?

A brand new Jeti DS16 system? That has proven itself problem free on 6 other flying models? With telemetry that allows me to see if I'm dropping or skipping frames (I'm not)?

Sorry, not going to buy that one. If I wanted to blame electronics, the Skookum may be overly sensitive to static if anything.

Regardless, the tweaks (and they are only tweaks) above worked for me, and my Pantera is just flipping awesome. If it had been another helicopter, I might not have gone this hardcore to get her flying perfectly.

With my Pantera... I was going to do what it took. Because, Pantera!
