Default MZ18 : Is it a bug?

Hello everyone,

I done the last updates on my MZ18 and I found a issue.
When I'm creating a Model Heli 1s, the channel 9 is mixing the channel 6. The channel 9 limits the maximums displacements of the channel 6 . I searched on all the menus but no mix is programmed. Have you the same issue? Is it a bug?

The MZ-24 does the same thing with channel 12. You just need to clear the knob assignment for channel 9. I don't know why it's that way, but it's apparently intentional.

I wouldn't mind social media so much if it didn't involve people.

Hi

That's a feature of the Graupner RX called "Gaslimiter" in German and is assigned by default when creating a new model. I use this feature as safety feature, cause a turning knob would't move as easy as a switch. Also it enables you to check pitch curves in all flight modes. I use DV1 for the function. So with DV1 set to 0 I can disable the Autorot switch and check pitch trough all flight modes without starting the motor.
If you don't need it, erase the assignment as written in the post before.

Regards
Patrick

So it's impossible to use the channel 9 for anything else? It is very strange isn't it ?

For the actual firmware it is like that for helicopters. So far no way to change it. Let's see the future enhancements...

Today's bad bug reporting.
I was worried about six months. MZ-18 model.
Throttle curve does not match the output of the servo.
More areas to react no out put stick. 50-50-50, a flat output curve not go servos.
It is bad manual 12: CH SET. Page 28.
Part of the picture is at MZ-24.
1: the pitch's ST1
6: throttle allocation.
It was allocating to the same pitch as the stick ST1.I did.
It's the ST1 pitch,.6: throttle seems correct.
At the same time you will cause cross contamination.
bad 6: ST1
good 6:NON

CH set: 9ch- DV1 > NON
th curve point set DV1
pich curve point set > DV2
ALL OK.
but servo monitor > ch9 - full +100% (~_~

Default mz18 bug

I'm new to Graupner and the mz18...

Just playing around with the radio for the first time yesterday, I discovered the "gas limiter feature" i.e. DV1 tied to channel 9 and channel 6 slaved to channel 9 in some hidden mix. The function is described in the latest Graupner mz18/mz24 manual on page 94. OK great so far... but you cannot separate the two channels??? I've assigned channel 9 to a switch (S7). S7 fully controls channel 9 -100, 0, +100 values for each of the three positions. Anything below +100 still mixes with channel 6.

Anyone figure out how to separate the two channels?

Seems silly that an output channel needs to be tied up by the "gas limiter" function... again I understand the safety reasons behind the thought process of a rotary dial versus a toggle. But coming from Futaba I had setup throttle cut mix and required two switches set to allow the motor to spool up. I'd like to free up channel 9 for 3Digi integration.

Are we stuck until Graupner yields to pressure and revises the firmware?

Excellent question, BTW I'm also coming from Futaba.

Default I'm over it now...

I'm over the mz18 channel 9 node locked to channel 6... in fact I've now embraced the safety feature known as "gas limiter."

I'm on the latest firmware 1.050 for the mz18 and GR24L is version 3a78.

Have the radio setup similar to my Futaba 14SG now. The flight mode QLink feature in the Graupner is a little tedious to setup, but more powerful in that more possibilities are available for various flight modes. Such as having different tail gyro gains for Idle Up 1 and 2.

Now that the radio is set... It's time to hit the air.

First flight will be on my Protos 500 with Ikon FBL.
Used Graupner HOTT SUMD FS 16 for the receiver with channel 8 on GR-24L connected to the ikon s-rec port (ch 3).

Fail-Safe mode on channel 6 set to -100% for throttle cut with Tx signal loss.

S6 is my throttle hold - QLink called "HOLD" also sets channel 6 to -100%
S5 is my Normal / Idle Up 1 / Idle Up 2 selector... also QLink'd

S2 momentary position resets my timers to zero... S6 turns them ON.

S3 is my gyro gain channel 7 to ikon... had to setup 12 mixes total to utilize all three positions of the S3 switch in all 4 Qlink flight modes (Hold, Normal, IU1, IU2). Each mix defines the channel % per each position of the maintained toggle switch S3. [ My Futaba could mix my rotary dial with the gyro gain... I used that to "fine" tune my gyro percentages up / down with the dial to +/- 5% gain adder to the selector switch... can't seem to figure out how to do that on the mz18 ]

S4 is my Dual Rate... disappointed you can only setup two different rates... I have 3 on my 14SG... mz18 just has two that I can tell... so they are 70% and 100% for now.

S7 is my Bank Switch for the ikon i.e. Beginner / Sport / 3D mode from channel 5 in the mz18

S8 momentary position triggers the "rescue" function in the ikon on channel 8

So far after 2 days of playing around with the mz18 I can say that I'm not disappointed. It's a great radio for the cost and has plenty of functionality to handle my needs just nicely.
