Default Difference Between Blue and Purple Locktite?

Just started working on my DFC rotor head assembly for my ESP flybarless conversion and I noticed the lock thread number was T22 instead of T43 per my ESP manual. Pulled up a 500 DFC manual and saw that the T22 was purple locktite to be used for the DFC build versus the T43 blue locktite recommended for the ESP build.

Is there a big difference between the two? If so, looks like I need to run to the auto store to pick up some purple locktite.

I'd just use blue. I used blue only on my 500 when I built it.

Good luck finding the purple anywhere locally....most places have the red and the blue, you usually have to wind up ordering the bearing retainers or any of the other types. If your lucky, you have an industrial supply place around, ( we have a place called Grangers ) that have the less common stuff used by factories and other manufacturing sites that need stuff like retainers, and different types of thread lockers, sealers, etc.
Just use the blue.. it'll do the job fine. The purple stuff is, I believe a low strength loctite.

I just buy the set of Align bottles for four bucks.

Technically speaking blue is for larger threads than what we use in helicopters. We're actually supposed to be using purple for screws this small. The stuff that comes with Align kits seems to be different than the "standard" locktite. Compare it visually and it looks like a different formulation (it's thicker and transparent). Also green Align is retaining goo for bearings and such and green locktite is for wicking into already tightened screws. (the green Align can also be used on things like swashplate balls or the tail hub set screw that could possibly unscrew themselves with blue)
